I was just checking out ebay and it struck me as odd at how few 328s there were posted for sale. Actually, none when I looked. It must be 80% 360s. I've been planning on putting my 328 up for sale, and it's been tricky trying to price it.

Motorcars has a black one in the high $80K range. Maybe they should respray it or cut the price in half... ;)

The premium for a red car over an identical black car is a couple thousand dollars or so, depending on the buyer. If it's in excellent mechanical condition as well, that car would have been a raging bargain at $45K. On premium cars, like a black '89 ultra-low mileage 328, the seller often wants to go fishing for a while. I'd bet that lot had a very high reserve and will show up again a few times.

IMO. What have seen from watching 328's for sale since 5/06 is that, and very what I have learned from this site, the average miles ranging from 10k to 15k are anywhere from 58 to 61k and 19 to 26k miles in some where between 54k to 58k. Thats with a comprehensive major service.

I just missed two 15k mile cars at around 50k and know of at least 4 19-26k cars under 50k. all red

It took me 6 months and $1500 in plane fair to finally find my 87 GTS. I tried to stay between 45 to 50 K but was not impressed by the cars I was finding. Even the low milage cars. which made me think the milage was not accurate. I believe you get what you pay for. I paid $52,500 for mine with 23,000 miles. New clutch and major service.

A silver 1989 GTS in my neck of the woods sold for 46k. The car had just under 10K miles and was in spectacular condition, but I do not know if it had been serviced recently.

I am still beating myself up over it for not picking it up.

I was thinking of selling my beautiful condition 87 red tan 328. 34k miles, major service at 30k + new clutch. Great mechanical condition. Is 45k a fair price?

    Regards,

    Stew

Do some copmarisons of sold vehicles over that last 6 months or so. I ahd looked at an 87 once asking 56k, thought he was nuts. Put yourself in the shoes of a buyer and decide, your already a seller. I think IMO that 48 to 52k might be a good place to start.
You've bought cars before, dont you want to haggle a bit?
