I am about to buy a set of 330 Titanium Rods that are .050" extra long. I think that since these are available at a steal ( 2k), it may make for a nice upgrade since I have to order custom pistons anyway....

    Any opinions?

    I'll bite.

If you are fitting more modern pistons anyway, I don't see why you shouldn't go with them. .050 is very little, given that modern pistons will be less in overall heighth than the originals and lighter, I'd sleep well with a combo like that in my car. This of course when the piston height from pin to top is accordingly modified. I am not intimate enough with a 330 engine to say if the extra heighth is allowed for, some later F engines do have the space with un-altered piston dimensions.

Needless to state that your modification should be well documented with the car's history, in order to let future custodians have the possibility to make informed decisions about repairs etc.

Killer deal on Ti rods. Talk to Brian Nutter at Wiseco for pistons.

Clearly you will need to get appropriate pistons made with the pin nearer to the crown and there is room to do this. We always get our pistons (& valves) made specially. It's cheaper & better than factory parts.
You also get the valve pockets & compression ratio just as you want.
I assume you must be planning to rev the engine considerably higher than standard, and I see that as the only reason to go with the Ti rods if the originals are still serviceable.

My main goal is to build a "bullet-proof" motor that will rev fast and be very dependable. Other than that, I generally jump all over a good deal on parts when i find them and store them for future trade collateral.
Heck, I think I could sell my original c-rods for more than what the Ti rods cost me....
