The dealer was "Italian Sport Imports" and they went by ISI. They were located in East Hollywood on Santa Monica Blvd. I don't remember the exact address, but it was near Santa Monica & Normandie. They had a small storefront and corner lot and it was the first place I ever saw a Dino in the metal circa 1972.

Wow! Over 200,000 miles on a '60s vintage Ferrari. I'm impressed. I wonder how many similar cars have gone that far.

Amazing. I'm guessing if you can avoid the rust monster, there is enough steel in these cars to survive.

The chassis on 9911 is very solid. from the time it arrived in California until it was sold in 2016, and then again from 2017-2021 it was in southern CA and was sitting in a garage in SoCal from 2003 until 2016. It's in great shape. I hope to get some photos soon from FastCars showing the car during refurbishment. To the best of my knowledge, just some sheet metal required some work, but not the chassis itself. It is pretty cool to think this car has been through a series of owners in Italy and the USA and gone so many miles and survived in good shape.

GTCs were well built from Pininfarina and Ferrari. Sure they had some issues [rear fenderwell pinch], shock mount reinforcing and a few mechanical and electrical weaknesses. My first 330, 10857 was my only car from 1976-91. In FL I drove her everywhere including over the sand dunes in Crescent Beach. We both sunned on the beach knowing to get out before high tide. One Christmas holiday I returned home to DE from FL. I hit snow in WVA and most all the remaining route to Wilmington. Was quite a white knuckle trip but I was young and adventurous [read: dumb] and made it safe and sound.

Recently with my 2nd GTC [since 04] in June drove from Naples to NC...800 miles through driving rain. She performed flawlessly.

    Tough little cars.

Just took 9911 out for a spin. She’s running well. Very docile until you push the wow pedal hard and then she squats down in the rear and takes off. The shriek of that V-12 above 5000 rpm is just one of the most glorious sounds imaginable. That “ripping silk” sound as the tach swings through 6000 rpm is just otherworldly and sublime. Nothing else like it.

My Jag E-type 3.8L at full song is also wonderful, but pales by comparison. I will say the Jag handles better and is actually more comfortable to drive, but the Ferrari is just something very special. And, somewhat surprisingly, the brakes on the Ferrari are more confidence inspiring than the brakes on the Jag even though I upgraded to four piston calipers on the front of the Jag. Prior to that upgrade, the brakes on the Jag (which were in perfect working order) were…well….if not scarily inadequate, certainly didn’t inspire confidence. They would impede forward progress in a very lazy manner. The Ferrari brakes provide a great feel and are easy to modulate with excellent feedback.

Both cars make me smile broadly. They also make me miss my parents because I’d love to be able to thank them for giving me all the love, support, and guidance I needed to be successful in life and able to afford and enjoy cars like this. Any of us who are enjoying owning cars like this are very fortunate indeed. I never forget that.

I’m pretty excited. After months of chasing down the part, I finally have the correct clock knob. None of the usuals, nor clock rebuild specialists, had the part, but Tom Shaughnessy did.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more of those than ones with actual low or super low mileage claimed by almost all.

I envy the look of the switches on the dash of the GTCs as opposed to the rocker switches in the GT 2+2.

Congrats on finding your unicorn part!

Yeah, I had a new clock movement installed by North Hollywood Speedometer. Included a knob to replace the one that I broke off the old clock. I’ve observed that it’s better to turn the knob clockwise when setting the time so the knob doesn’t become unscrewed.

Ha! Once you "break the ice" of a Four Digit VIN (five in the case of my later three Ferraris), the Tax Office can see that, and it's "Oh, THAT guy...he's back!"

I even had the hilarious experience of a stranger asking me "How the plates worked out?" in a grocery store...
It was the Houston Police Officer Auto Theft, (out of uniform) that had looked the car over and told them "Yep, 5 digits...that's ALL there is!"

So in a town of millions, I'm "THAT guy" too!!!

Some Supervisor on the THIRD day, said "Hit OVER RIDE honey, and sell this poor man some tags"......
    :D :D :D

Funny….when I went to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (almost every other state calls it the DMV), they didn’t want to issue me a registration because Texas had the car listed as stolen. I told them I knew the history of the car from 1976 and it had never been stolen. I even showed them the history file including the registration info from the prior California owner. Didn’t matter…Texas DMV said it was stolen. I called Drivers Source in Houston who had sold the car to the prior owner. Jose said it happens all the time with old classics with four or five digit VINs. He said a lot of farm equipment has four and five digit VINs as well and so a piece of farm equipment will get reported as stolen and the DMV won’t have recorded in the public database that it’s a piece of farm equipment and not a car, and thus the problem. In the end, the MVA hit “over-ride” and gave me a registration, but it took multiple trips and phone calls and many, many hours to get it all resolved. Silly stuff.

as I know there have been 4 digit numbers, but also some letters ( for example the 250 GT/E has the 4 digit number and the GTE behind ). but may be the letters not at all cars?

Current and known prior registration material on my car used just the four digits (9911) as the full serial number (VIN) for the registration and title documents. On my 1963 Jag, it is registered and titled using the body number tag vs the chassis number perhaps because the chassis number on the engine frames is different than the data plate (and it previously been registered in Maryland using the body tag number).

The plate on my 330 GTC shows *9857*. There is no leading zero.
