We have a client car in the shop and will be replacing all the AC lines. They seems to have a cloth type wrapping on the them. Where do i find the same replacement hose material? Or are there other options? IT is a concouse car, so originality is important.
I've made some visually quite accurate A/C hoses for 365 GTB/4s, but R & D for their operational longevity is still pending and I don't know if earlier cars, incl. 330, used similar materials.
The original hose was Aeroquip 1540 which I believe is NLA. One other note, each hose had a aluminum metal band on it stamped with the Borletti part number.
Aeroquip FC321 and FC802 are possible alternatives. FC321 black braided hose (rated for LP gas) was mentioned by someone looking for 1540. Don't know if that would work for freon. The FC802 a is wrapped look rubber hose rated for R12 & R134 and is supposed to work with the same reusable screwed together fittings used on the 1540 hose. Mercedes used the 1540 hose on some cars. 1540 was used on some motor homes as well.
Not sure how much hose is exposed on a 330 GTC but you may be able to reuse the original hose as it is pretty durable. Fabric dye may freshen up the visible sections. I had to research all of this for my Dino GTS. I lucked out and found enough NOS 1540 to get my car done.
quite a bit is exposed along the pass side inner fender to the dryer to the evaporations box.......after 50 yrs, im sure it leaks somewhere -
