Looking for a 1967 - 330 GTC grill.....
Are you missing one or is it just damaged ? If latter, why not restore it, although sometimes it can be easier to make a new one and makes even more sense if original is missing and the "numbers match" will no longer be an issue.
The slates are very very pitted, so when we go to anodize the grill slates, the pits are going to show up big time. Once we sand and polish it out, we will have a better idea, however based on our experience probably not, due to the deep pits. Making a new one is possible (did so on the ellena) and it was involved .....so the easiest path is finding a very nice used one. All the options are on the table, so i want to see what is available (if any) , $$ and we will make a judgement call from there. We are working towards a 100 point car for this restoration, 330 GTS
Best choice for perfect -- Murray Gleg QLD Aus Sales@gleggman .com I bought one for my 330gt and one for Daytona Both perfect and originality correct
Thanks Howard and Timo for the compliments. The 330 grills like most of the egg crate grills are quite a challenge to make. From the surround, to the slats, have to be exact, and your right, over fifty years of rock blasting takes its toll. I stamp the vertical slats as per the factory on the base and recess the holes as per OEM. On the GT there is mesh that I remake from stainless (same open area) and powder coat it black to stop small birds I expect, going down the vent hole. It all has to polished, but... when it gets anodised it only gets etched off just enough to achieve a satin finish not like chrome. Here are some pics.
Were all or most 330/365 GT/-C/-S grille’s originally made/fitted individually for each car or were these PF constructed models all so consistently (well ?) made that any grille’s from any car would easily fit another, similar car ? Just curious.
In other words, did/do the grilles of PF constructed cars originally have PF body/job numbers stamped on them ?
There are two types of grills for the Daytona, The plexi cars are straight on the sides and the later cars are curved to accept the pop up lights. The outer is black anodize and the inner is clear anno, the inner slats are from 6 series ally. The base has small M3 slotted dome head counter sunk screws. and I threw a dash plate in just for good measure Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
