Can anyone tell me what the best brand of oil filter(s) to use for these cars is(are)?
I owned a 330 GTC many years ago and used Fram PH 2804 filters as called for by the OM. Had no problems at all. However, since then I've learned there are much better filters on the market than Fram. I use a Baldwin B253 on my 328, but I don't know if it would fit a 330. I use Napa Gold (made by Wix) or Car Quest (also by Wix) on four other engines I now operate and they provide a good trade-off between filtration and flow. But what we really need is a current 330 owner to provide up to date advice. . . . Cheers, Mark
My '66 330 GT mounts a Baldwin B-50 on the left side and a Baldwin B-253 on the right, bypass filter, side. They can be obtained @ Partsource among other places.
Yellow, I believe Sam is correct. The left side filter mount takes a Baldwin B50, a Purolator L30003 or a NAPA 1050 and has a 5/8-18 mounting thread. The right side mount takes a Baldwin B253, a Purolator L30341 or a NAPA 1622 and has a ¾-16 mounting thread. On my 67 330, the 5/8 mount fitting was replaced with the ¾ fitting to allow the use of two B253s, L30341s or 1622s. I dont know the benefit of this other than a possible cost savings but it is not correct. Tom
Check out a previous Tech Q&A thread on GTC oil filters. Although some 330 GT's used the bypass system, GTC's do not.
