I had earlier placed this under technical, but maybe this is a better venue. Can anyone tell the best brand of oil filter for this car? Does it matter? Thanks Rob
I've used the Baldwin B-253 filter on virtually every Ferrari I've owned or serviced. 330, 365, 246, 308 -----------. I will not use any other brand except WIX. What convinced me of this was a display of virtually every filter on the market. Each was carefully cut open at the crimp such that I could lift the can and examine the innards. What I saw on some was just plain scary. On one filter, the can felt like an empty beer can. The only filter that I consider to be equal or very close was the brand "Wix". Baldwin also makes a little cartridge for the carburated V-12 and older fuel filters. EXCELLENT PRODUCTS! Once again, just my opnion. Bob Z.
I'd second Bob's recommendations that the Baldwin B253 is best and that a high quality outer case (with a high burst pressure) is important. However, you don't give your location so I don't know if getting a Baldwin is realistic for you (there is usually a small hassle to it even when possible). If not, I'd be equally comfortable using the UFI 23 162 02 if you can get the UFI at the same, or better, price than the Baldwin (for us end-users in the US, the Baldwin can be had for about 1/2 of the UFI price so the Baldwin decision is easy).
Hi, Steve - good point - I did not think to ask where Rob is located. I imagine that Baldwin would ship out of the country though. Bob Z.

This is for Bob Zambelli: I live in norther NJ, so getting the Baldwin filters is no problem. My car is a 1967, do you think I would need the bypass filter, or would 2 X B253's do the trick. Thanks Rob
Hi, Filter fans. A little clarification is in order. First off, if your car is designed the two identical filters, they are very close together. They flank the coolant outlet hose and there is around 3 inches between them. Most noticeably, however, they both mount on the same rigid casting. If your car is equipped for one full flow and one bypass filter, it's very obvious. The two filter mounts are farther apart - almost out to the cylinder heads. Also, the bypass filter usually mounts on a formed metal plate with a FLEX hose coming out of the bottom. On the specs for the older cars, the bypass filter is a FRAM PB50 (I do not know if there is a Baldwin replacement) and the full-flow is a FRAM PH2815 (Baldwin B253). If you have any doubts whatsoever, feel free to call me at my office (610 328 4000, ext 551). I am near Philadelphia. Bob Z.
If your car is set up in the later configuaration, DO NOT USE A BYPASS FILTER!!! As far back as I remember, every GTC had the two identical filters, as did all V 12 cars after that. BUT, my 330 GT 2+2 had the bypass filter. The SN was 8125 as I recall. Bob
