I'm looking for rubbers that fit inside here: see photo. Does anyone know what exactly it might be referred to as and where I could buy it? I'll need it for both sides of the car. Thanks. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do you happen to know exactly which piece that is? Not all of them have photos and I'm not a car person. Just doing this for my boss. Haha.
Oh sorry. Based on the title of this thread, I thought you were talking about what I imagined to be impossible. Carry on. Dale
Mr Fiat does indeed order from Cicognani. Based on a fairly detailed comparison I did a couple of years ago, the mark up is a bit over 10%, including shipping. The one advantage of Mr. Fiat is that they'll take returns and shipping stuff back to them is much less than sending it back to Italy, assuming Cicognani would even take it back. Also, as Mr Fiat orders more and more stuff from Cicognani, they seem to do a better job of posting pictures of the part number. Just something to keep in mind when ordering from either one, so your mileage may vary. In any case, the rubber stuff from Cicognani thus far has been very good. Alberto
Cicognani has several agents in the USA and abroad. I use Velocespace in California as well as Carrubber in Switzerland. Matt at Re-Originals used to carry most of the rubber but I'm not sure where he stands as of now. My personal experience is that they have great quality and fit. But, you must be absolutely sure that what you are ordering is exactly what goes on the car. Cicognani has numerous inncauracies in what they think the car takes and what actually is correct for each and every model. I take measurements and photos whenever possible and check the fit in advance. Morris
My experience with the rubber supplied by all of these sources for this model has been less than uniformly positive. Some stuff is right on the money, some items have a fit that seems challenging and nearly impossible to achieve, and some stuff is dead wrong. All of it, however, is quite expensive. Good luck. I've resisted the temptation to weigh in on this, but I've made several purchases from Mr. Fiat and have had a uniformly good experience. In one instance he sent the wrong trunk gasket, but we got that straightened out without any hassle. His prices are in line with everyone else, probably better than Re-originals, so yes, he's on the list of suppliers I'd recommend and use again. I'd like to say that about the other major Ferrari parts suppliers, but I can't and won't. I've found all of them to be either sloppy, rude, over-priced or all combinations. With little to no competition, the common Ferrari supply houses have little to worry about and it shows in their service. Unless you're a well-known shop you'll get second class service, if you get any at all. For service and competitive prices, I'd far rather deal with Corvette parts purveyors. steve
For the buy-it-now item, the purchase price is so far off the norm that it is obviously a mistake. If an item was accidentally marked down something like 20%, then the seller should absolutely honor it and take a loss, but when a $204 item is inadvertently listed as $4, it does not seem inappropriate for the seller to cancel/refund the transaction. The letter of the law of eBay may be different, I have no idea. For the delay on the other items, the frustration seems justified. Hearing about a 99% satisfaction rate from a seller does nothing to help a customer that has a valid reason to have a 0% satisfaction level -- nor is it an answer to their specific issue. We are lucky to have a vendor like Mr. Fiat since getting vintage parts is usually difficult and time-consuming and many have indicated positive experiences, but at least what's disclosed in this thread suggests there could be better communication when something isn't available.
