This start out as a GTC or ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/225957543608?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tJULE6e_QkK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=DOqmJno4T6-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
A lot of weirdness in the description. A GTC should have a five-speed -- yet listing title says 4-speed and it looks like a 4-speed gate (with reverse) from the pics, though there isn't a clear pic of the gate to see if there is a fifth gear on it. The engine is listed as Ferrari "250" (but 4,953cc SOHC Columbo V12), with updated Motec??, and three 3-barrel throttle bodies. No pics of the engine. 16" Borrani's -- GTC had 14" wheels.
Agree; the post is such a vague & unhelpful description on an oddball of a car. I noticed the strange 4spd, the unclear displacement on the engine, not to mention the lack of door glass and a top. Wonder if anyone knows this car; whether it started life as a GTC, a 2+2 or who knows.
Chassis #9837 which is a 330 GTC. Discussed in 2020 thread here. Strange it has a 4 spd box. Sounds like it may have lost its 5 spd GTC transaxle and gained a front engine mounted gearbox?
Kinda reminiscent of the Chinetti cut 365 GTC #12181 which occasionally makes the For Sale rounds: https://www.forza-mag.com/issues/130/articles/chinetti-conundrum
Thank you for the reference to the post; very helpful! I imagine someone someday will hopefully restore this poor thing back to its original GTS coupe configuration but only when it makes economic sense.
Thank you for the Forza post on the Chinetti-made 365; very interesting. This car is something of a different kettle as it were given that it was commissioned by Chinetti to a car well before the car was ultimately made for sale to the public. It reminds me of other dealer-modified cars from the American muscle-car era of the 60s & 70s. Unlike the eBay 330, the Chinetti 365 looks well-executed, has “a history,” and is just cool.
Looking at the listing again, I think it's just full of typos. Elsewhere it lists the displacement as 4l, even though it says 5l at the bottom. It must be the standard 5-speed transaxle even though it says 4-speed in the auction title because fitting a forward mount 4-speed transmission in a GTC AND making it a slotted 4-speed shifter would be extremely difficult. This is probably a pretty standard GTC with modified body. I love the line "Several aluminum alloy rebodies were authorized by Ferrari in the following years".
It's worse than just typos. The seller does not know what they are representing. Completely untrustworthy IMHO...
not everybody has knowledge about cars. above all it comes to ferrari. some only like to get rid of the item they got for example as inheritance but here a company is offering the car and only reading the description with so many mistakes and no photos from the engine and not from underneath is just an absolutely NO GO to buy this car, also not other things from this company
