Anyone have photos of the coupe body Chinetti had Fantuzzi put on the 1962 Le Mans winning 330 TR/LM 0808? There has been plenty published about this car but I haven't seen photos of it as a coupe.

I almost bought an AMR-model of the Fantuzzi-car last week, but I just don´t care enough for its looks.

Wayne, thanks for the photo. Do you know if 0808 now has it's original body re-installed (if that's the right term) or is it a re-creation? In either case, it's an awsome car.

i dont think 400iguy was talking about this world known car, but about a body mounted after le Mans 62.

I would love to see pictures of that body..............

This car has had several bodies. When it was offered to me from my friend in Rome, it had an open body with hoop ("roll bar") but came with a spare coupe body (the one shown). When Pierre Bardinon got it, he restored it to "original". I don't believe this si the original body; I think Pierre had it built to replicate the original. But I never asked him, so could be wrong.

I recall hearing about a 330 TR with a coupe body that was owned by a photographer in NYC - the car went to Mr Bardinon to be rebodied to the original open body version.
    Truth or fiction?

The Forza article on Spiro's car noted it was a faithful repro, and ran a photo of the original one on the Back Page.............

The original one, of course, bore the hammer marks and rivets of it's fabrication a little more noticably, and IIRC there were some windshield mods as the LeMans rules called for framed glass.

Can anyone identify this body? Was it worn on 0808 at one time?

Vince, see my earlier post, #2.

In his follow-up to my post, he then asked about the body the car is wearing today:
Carbon responded by posting photos of the car as it appears now.

0794TR of Peter Sachs. Going by the title of your photo, I'd say it was probably taken at Mid Ohio in 1990.

Thanks for the responses. It's cool to be able to 'pick the brains' of folks all knowing of Ferrari History. I find the history of these cars so very interesting.

I have pretty much the same photos Carbon posted of the 0808 today that I took at the same events. What I was wondering was is the current body a re-creation or is it (or some part of it) the body run at Le Mans in '62? I know there was an earlier body (or bodies) on 0808.

#0808 's last race was Le Mans 1963, where Pedro Rodriguez, whilst running third, lost control in the midnight hours crashing of the road into a clump of trees, heavily battering the body. Luigi Chinetti send 0808 to Modena for repair and commissioned a one-off coupe body to be fitted to the then old racer to turn it into a road car. Fantuzzi, the original body builder, got the commission.
In 1974 Bardinon bought 0808 and send it back to Fantuzzi to be rebodied to the 1962 configuration. One may assume a brand new body was constructed.

Sadly they didn't do the windshield properly like it was at Le Mans. The original one makes the car look much more aggressively. I even doubt if it ever had the type of windscreen it currently has.

Thanks for the great detail shots. The extension on the top of the door is unusual and interesting...
