Ok with the Liquid Wrench soaking on it all day and me purchasing the proper mm wrenches I got it to come out of the cat. Now what? It looks like a ChapStick on a wire. Do I somehow remove the Chapstick lloking piece from the wire? It appears to be crimped on. Or do I need to purchase a complete assembly that includes the wire? PS, change out of your new white shorts when doing this.
Unclip the plastic electrical connectors and swap your O2 sensor from the right side with your O2 sensor on the left side of your engine. If your trouble code stays on the same check engine light, then you've got a bad Ground connection. If the trouble code follows your O2 sensor, then you need to get a new one. If the problem goes away entirely, then you probably knocked off enough rust during the switch to give yourself a good Ground.
If it turns out to be the ground...Use my link I provided to strap a ground onto the O2 sensor. Its on the thread that explains how to remove the o2 sensor...Glad to hear you got them out! Not that tough, and now you learned something about cars and your car.
So the wire comes with the piece. How about just cleaning the item? I suppose ont eh wire end I can clean the contacts and put 22A on them, do you do anything with the Chapstick looking end? Looks like it has a minute rusty coating, sand it? Or will that ruin the sensor?
