also, if anyone needs to replace a suspension ecu for a 355, they use the exact same part for the maserati 3200 gt. i bought one on ebay for less than $100 (it came from Poland).

    On the other hand...

Looking at the pictures above, the ABS computer that was in my car did not look like the one shown with the Ferrari logo and the Italian antiskid writing on it. Mine had the exact same number/letter sequence as the Lincoln unit. Sooooo...
Either 348s came with one or the other depending on what was in the parts bin that day OR
Someone had problems with the original Ferrari unit in my car and at some point in the past picked a Lincoln unit as a cheap substitute, in which case I'm handing out crappy advice, although it does seem to work fine. I'm starting to be leaning towards the latter scenario, but I'll throw out the question to anyone who has pulled their ABS computer out: Did it have the Ferrari logo on it?

Darren if you have a year or part number it would be nice of you to put that in the sticky for interchangeable parts thanks

You guys need to realise just because the outer casing and plug is the same, the internal calibration will not be. The ECU unloads pressure to each caliper independently in the event of a lock up on each wheel, based on the sensor in that corner.

The loadings between a 348/355 and a Lincoln will be very different, sure on a clear straight road slam on the brakes and the ABS will work, but not to the design standards for the car.

I have one here from a 2wd Ford Sierra, part number 85GG2C013AD the later 4x4 version of the car also uses the same system and the same looking box but it is calibrated for 4 wheel drive and has a different part number, Ford mix and match parts all the time and keep the same part codes, they only change them if the component has been altered.

Tyres and brakes are the two things that keep you alive in a car, don't skimp on either.

I'm with you on this one paul. if I had to I'd use the Lincoln unit. were talking about a simple early abs system and not a full blown esp system . the abs system is simply monitoring 4 wheels for either a locked or rolling status and then pulsing the brake pressure at a particular wheel until the desired result, rolling not locked ,is obtained. the so called "loading " or proportioning is calibrated in other parts of the brake system.

Here is a photo of the Ford Sierra unit, as you can see it looks the same as the other two.

But and its a big but, if you look at the Lincoln, the Sierra and the Ferrari unit they all show the pin outs for the plug labelled 1 to 18 on Row One and 19 to 35 on Row Two, all three are different. If these ecu operated the same then the plug configuration would also be the same.

    Will it work? yes, maybe

Will it work properly when needed ?????? who knows, I would not want to be stomping on the brakes of my Ferrari in an emergency with that question in the back of my mind.
