Hey guys, I'm considering a 348 that might need a a/c control unit.Do any of you guys know how I would go about getting it fixed?I understand that they no longer make them any more so I gues I would need to either repair it or get a rebuilt one.Your thoughts are appreciated thanks

I have several brand new units. Yes, they are out of production and basically unobtainum:

Sometimes the electrical issues can be fixed with Stabilant-22a, sometimes they're beyond hope. I have seen several (including the one in my car!) where the buttons don't depress properly anymore. In that case, there isn't an easy fix (other than disssembly and rebuilding)

Hey thanks, So in your opinion thats necessarily not a reason to kill the deal if I could get him to split the cost with me.There is not much else wrong it so far.I didn't get a ppi yet (tues).I'm trying to see what I'm up against. thanks

Holy cow... if the seller will pay 1/2 of this, I'd take the deal. You'd have a brand new unit! The rest of us jokers have had to disassemble ours and rebuild them. Having said that, MAKE SURE you get a PPI on the car and you're confident of its condition. It's possible (just possible) that an owner who doesn't take care of the HVAC issue properly has also neglected other systems.

Make sure the rest of the AC system is intact -- compressor, drier, blows cold, fans work, etc. You'll soon also need to learn about our little 20A fuse issue in the front trunk. ;)

The guy who owns the car has told me there only 3 things wrong with her.He claims The speedo cable is intermitent,The a/c unit and the seatbelt motors.I know the speedo sends up a flag but he claims he did a 30k service at 28k and the speedo now says 30k so not much mystery there. He claims the service was done by ferrari of long island and he has proof. The a/c unit I gues may be repaired but worst case I'm looking at 2k.I have a ppi sched. for tues morn. well see if he shows up. Obvousily if not then no deal. I gues well see

I was thinking the same thing but If the miles are curently 30k and the service can be proven to be done at 28k last year as he says then no harm no foul right.Sometimes I think that being a New yorker I'm always suspect of everybody thats why I love this forum I gives a different perspective on things thanks

If the miles at the time of the service were 28k and the miles now a year later are 30k. How many miles could it be?How many miles do you guys drive in a year? I mean I seen that he has other cars. The interior looks the mileage (no wear on the side of the seat) I mean I'm not making excuses but sometimes I think that If you want a reason there's always one not to buy. Don't get me wrong I really appreciate all your opinions good and bad thanks

Intermitten is not that big of a deal...If they are truly trying to cheat you, they would have just flipped it off and then back on...Within the last 300-400 miles....my speedo needle has been bouncing, the most it has ever gone off for is a 1 mile on about a 20 mile trip...Interesting, is that my speedo is around 29k, same as this car....Wonder if its common for the speedo's to go a little screwy at this point....
Pretty positive its just the contact that everyone talks about on the bottom passenger side of gearbox, but I haven't gotten underneath to clean it off...
Look it up on this forum, if you are truly interested in the car, it will probably take you 10 min to fix the problem.....if it fixes, I wouldnt worry about it... No used 348 is going to be perfect, and be wary of the guy that says it is...

Just my 2 cents of course, and the advice is worth what you paid for it.

Thats what I think. I mean they guy offered it up.He's the one who told me about the problems on the car.He let me know about the a/c unit the speedo and the seat belts. He claims it was serviced at ferrari of long island and he has the records.I have a ppi tentively scheduled for tues. Now records no deal.I'd liked to think what you guys say is true that there's s brotherhood amongst ferrari owners in general and that most people are basically honest.I mean he has to know no one is just gonna spend that kind of money without checking the car put especially a ferrari. thanks your opinions appreciated
