Blows a hole in the side of the A/C compressor because the liquid can't compress. :(

Not true, I have never filled a air-con system with vapor and never will. Like most other tradesman I decant the recommended weight volume of liquid through the high side port, start the engine and if required I decant more liquid refridgerent through the low side port until the desired vent temp is achieved.

Don't get me wrong "Pablo" is correct the liquid can't compress but an air-con compressor can handle small volumes of liquid added to top up systems. I have lost count of how many top ups, repairs and full over hauls I have done and have never had a compressor fail yet. :D

HUH ?????? Did you just answer your own question?

Why didn't you just look at the size of the ends on your a/c gauges and follow the hose to the gauges?

What were the head pressures anyway if you checked? :D

Hey Pap! You're right about "small volumes" but isn't the point of a compressor to, well, "compress?!"

And you can't compress a liquid very well...right?!

I was at 45psi low and 175psi high.

I asked because I didnt want to explode the low side gauge by putting it on the high side, thought it would be better to ask before I just jumped in and did it.

True, your LOW side seems a bit high, is your air-con cold?

Yeah I wouldn't worry about damaging your air con gauges, The fittings on them only fit on the corresponding HIGH and LOW ports in the system, no need to crack a sweat thinking about it :D

You remove the trim around the blower housing and oull the rubber trim from over the carpet edge nearest the windshield. Then lift the carpet as close to the middle of the windshield as you can (a little on the drivers side of center) . you will see the fitting in there.
