348 A/C Panel

Just had some minor work done and discovered something that might save you 348 owner's some cash. My A/C worked well, but the buttons on the console stuck and sometimes would not release. I thought it was time for a rebuild of the control system. Wrongo!

Turns out that the console face plate was slightly warped due to the driver's knee smacking the leather console. A quick repair was to put some spacers against the backing plate to straighten it out a bit. No more binding. If they stick now, I just tap the side of the console and they pop out. Who would have thought?

 

Crap, I was afraid you guys would call me on this. Let me find out. I think the spacers were placed behind the face plate. The object is to biring the face plate surface perpendicular to the buttons face. Mine was slightly angled, hence the binding.
