    I am converting a 1989 348 A/C system to R134. Customarily the receiver dryer is replaced during this process. The unit in the car currently is an American part with the following numbers;

    LGKET20
    KAR-3/64 ONF

    The local parts guys point me to the door when I tell them it came out of a Ferrari but I am certain this is a commonly used part. Has anyone gone through this process previously?

    I just replaced mine.

    Same manufacturer although mine was made week 16 1991.

    No change in 16 years. Still they claim they should be changed every 3 years.

    Just make sure you change them o-rings to proper ones.

    I had to do it twice since I used ordinary o-rings first time.

    Took only two days before the drier started to leak.

    You see traces of oil from the compressor.

    Had to go through the whole business again.

    Please make sure there is enough oil in the compressor and that it is the correct kind. If you run the compressor dry you will end up like me.

    First the compressor gets overheated and the bearings brake. Since the compressor belt gets overheated and brakes it takes the alternator belt down the drains also.

    Lots of work just because.

    Good luck!
