has anyone fit aftermarket seats in their 348 ? i was thinking about installing the 360 style seats, i can bust them up without worry of preserving the delicate leather originals...
are their mounting points under the carpet for racing style harness?

for now i carefully place my big butt in the seat , and i am careful not to yank the seatbelts around for fear of breaking any of them.. its starting to get to me .

I pulled the stock seats out of my 348 Spider to see that very thing. It's just four bolts (& 1 little black sensor connection) to remove each seat. 10 minutes and the seats are out. EDIT: there are two black seat belt guides on the top inside edges of these seats that also must be unbolted to fully remove the seats.

On mine, and probably most, the lap belt is bolted to the seat bottom itself rather than to the floor or side of the car...which surprised me. Further, the receiver for the lap belt is also bolted to the seat.

So either you need a full lap belt system on your replacement seat (either new or from your old seat), or you'll have to go to a 5 point racing seat belt.

One option, however, is to switch stock driver and passenger seats. 348 owners can do this because the shoulder belt can still clip into the mouse motor belt receiver (otherwise, swapping the seats would place the shoulder belt receiver that is bolted to the seat...on the wrong side).

By switching seat locations, you change the wear pattern and extend the life of your stock seats.

And since it is just four bolts, you can mount lots and lots of 3rd party aftermarket seats in there. You may have to re-use your stock seat track rails...and that may require drilling one or two new holes into your new seats, but that's about the sum of it.

Depending on your racing style 5 point harness (if you go that route), you may be able to bolt it into the same holes as the seat, in the floor.
