The alternator in my 91 348 tb has a bad voltage regulator. The guy at the rebuilder is not sure what voltage regulator goes in it, he can't get any numbers off the regulator. It is a Nippon Denso 105amp

Yeah 105 sounds about right. Make sure that they use the heavy duty regulator or the battery light will come on.

I would be seriously concerned about using a shop that cannot figure this out, though his usual sources. But have him call here:
http://www.romaineelectric.com/ They fixed my buddy's ND alternator....they even gave him the choice of the factory voltage regulator or an aftermarket HD one.

Dave, I think he is concerned about not putting the exact one back in because it is a Ferrari .

I had problems with a similar alternator that was rebuilt with substandard parts(chinese)The alt worked until the motor was really revved up.I didnt find the problem because I generally dont rev the piss out of customers cars.the customer had no such qualms and found the problem right away.had to use genuine nippon dippo parts.
