I voted to keep them together. Yes, they are very different cars, but also yes, they are related and DO share a fair number of commonalities. I just recently put a fair number of parts salvaged from a 355 into my 348. Admittedly none of the parts were engine related (just some A/C components, and a 2.7 CatECU from an early 355, a door sill, and the like...), but still... there is some shared DNA.

That's it, time to reorganize! Put the 348's with the Mondial's :D

j/k....the forum is much more useful having them together.

The only thing that irks me is the one non-model specific 'technical' section...there's great stuff there, but I would rather see model appropriate tech posts in the model forums.

...and this does seem to be a really good idea. I'll try and keep it in mind for future posts. That is, assuming they don't get split.

Perhaps I need something better to do, but I just went through the responses and their profiles with an eye towards understanding which owners favored separate threads or combined threads. Here's the findings...thus far:

348 owners who want to keep it as is: 100% of the posts
348 owners who want to separate the threads: 0%

355 owners who want to keep it as is: 51%
355 owners who want to separate the threads: 49%

Mondial owner who wants to keep 348/355 thread as is: 100% (??)
328 owner who wants to keep 348/355 thread as is: 100% (??)
F430 owner who wants to keep 348/355 thread as is: 100% (??)

Formula 1 fan not owning a Ferrari who wants to keep 348/355 thread as is: 100% (???)

Conclusions? I'll leave it to the data analysts, code crackers, and psychologists to discern what it all means, but clearly the 348 crowd has separation anxiety....

Ownership period was not taken into account nor were respondents asked for the exact count of Hot Wheels Ferraris they owned between the ages of 5 to 10 years old as a means of understanding whether they were sniveling little opportunists who cashed-in on the suppressed market for Ferraris rather than being pure-breed Ferrari owners who have owned or suffered through many years of ownership as a means of validating their passion and right to an opinion.

Still 100% by the 348 folks!

While we're on this important topic, is it legal to use Armor-All in events judged under FCA Concours rules?

My driving gloves off to the guy who presented the issue. Change never comes easy. Maybe logic will prevail in the future. Until then, just love reading of 348 woes.

    Gentlemen and Ladies:
By now, I am sure that you are familiar with the excellent data compiled by our research team here at ASS. The executive team, sensing another business opportunity, contacted the product development team in our prosthetic oral device department.

In the seemingly unlikely event that your thread is torn asunder, leaving 348 model owners to ponder their fate alone, we are pleased to offer a highly effective product that has proven its value over many years and like circumstances. Operators are standing by to accept your orders.

    Respectfully,

So I have been reading this thread and it got me to thinking. How different are these cars really. Can you tell by looking at the core of the car? If you saw only the first part of the assembly would you know what the end product would be? Each had its time and place but the better parts from the 348 were moved to the F355 when it was time for a successor. the core monocoque was one of those things, the back bone of the entire car, along with 70% of the body panels I might add. Here is a little test for those of you who thing they know that they are so different they need their own forum. Which of the pics below is the 348 and which is the F355 :D No peaking at the Ricambi site lol. yes, I'm having a slow work day.

    Hmmmm... I'll take a pure guess that picture 1 is a 348 and picture 3 is a 355, but I really don't know. :)

    Edit: Picture 3? I mean picture 2. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Also a good point.........however, we not talking Maserati and Ferrari here in this case. We are talking Ferrari to Ferrari. What this comes down to in a nut shell is we are acting like schoolgirls who have their panties in a bunch over who is the prettiest or whose daddy has more money rather than being a group of people who love these cars for there lineage, heritage and the joy of owning them. There are three types here, good cars guys who love the experience of the knowledge that both these cars bring to the forum, those who love darshbaggery and those who need thicker skin. I am getting sick of the B.S.

The only reason I voted for seperate forums is to make it easier and less time consuming to find issues/solutions for 355 specific stuff. When I have lots of time I don't mind looking through all the posts. I owned a 328 and 348 before the 355, they are all great cars which I think deserve their own forums.
