My 348 has an antenna in the windshield.

Is this stock or aftermarket? It does not seem to be very effective, not that I use the radio that often. Is there any other options without sticking an antenna on the roof?

    Thanks Richard.

My '94 Spider also has the antenna embedded in the windshield (a small vertical wire right in the center of the windshield) I believe this is stock. I haven't thought much about changing it as the only music I need to hear is the sonorous wail behind my head! :)

The 348's with the antenna in the windshield are supposed to have an antenna amplifier as well. Maybe it's possible that you don't have the amplifier, or it's unhooked?? Has your windscreen ever been replaced?

I don't know if the amplifier is unplugged or not. Where would I find it?

I think the windshield is original. However it was raced in the challenge series, so it may have been replaced. I have most of the records after '96, but I don't know before that.

This is about all I can tell you about the antenna amplifier. It is shown in the Parts Book as being located somewhere near the lower right corner of the windscreen.

I would be surprised if a car that had been "tracked" much didn't need a new windscreen at some point, from either a crack or sandblasting.

It is my understanding that 348's never had an antenna in the windscreen until late Spiders. My car (1990) has one in the windshield, and it's a dead giveaway that the glass has been replaced at some point.

    Can anyone verify this?

EDIT: 355's have it in the glass, and a F355 glass will fit perfectly in the 348.

This is the least of my problems, but I think that foot tall antenna dead center angled back is pretty euro looking. Where do you get those, and is that a desirable look? Saw some comments of several people who didn't like that antenna in the back. I have no wire inside my glass but did find a $10 kraco antenna under the center console, a improvised method.

My car doesn't run right now, needs all kinds of work, so I thought I would focus on something real important, like the antenna thing. haaa

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to look under the dash.

Mines a '94 tb so I don't know if it was standard for that year. The windshield is a bit pitted from track use so maybe it's stock?

If it's not where would the antenna otherwise be?

the 94 does come with the antenna in the windshield. If you remove the dash vent to the far right, you will find the amplifier behind there. It is possible it is not plugged in or has no power supplied to it.

Even with the amplifier, the reception is not the best.

    Regards, Jim
