    Not to bad huh ?

Guess it's a bit downhill. It is supposed to be a 300hp '91, so not even the late '93 /'94 320 hp. As the site (poster) says.

It's from http://www.e39.de/ where people send pics of their speedo's at huge speed. Have a look.

When this is again old news, don't flame me.....

    Hello Daniel

From this particular pic... I'm not sure. But look at the site there....

BTW my spacers arrived yesterday from Hill UK. Mounted them today (15F and 25R). They stay very nice under the bodywork.
Couldný do a proper ride though as it is raining like hell here all day.
    But keep you posted.

The 348's top speed is 171 miles/hour (as per the Techincal Manual).

    That's a speed of 275 kilmoeters/hour.

Therefore I find it highly unlikely that the car reached 300 km/hour, downhill or not.

I mean, look at the oil pressure--it's hardly in the center! At 7400 RPMs??!!

I think this is true and not photoshop. One time I was lucky and all lanes on the "autobahn" were free and I´ve seen the same: 290 km/h @ 7500 rpm.

It feels like that there is still a little bit more, but I released the gas pedal in order not to go into the red area.

    Regards from germany, Georg

If it is photoshop it's a darn good job. I zoomed in on it and no signs of manipulations, but I'd like to know how someone goes about taking such a picture. They had to take one hand off that steering wheel and steadily press a shutter button without moving and bluring the picture. Nerves of steel I'd say.

After 140 MPH in my 348 I had to peel my fingers off the wheel.

If you look at it close enough you can see the clone stamp brush strokes. It's been hacked in Photoshop - and not even done that well.

Well, it was supposed to be at the Autobahn in Germany (where else...) towards Bremen.
Of course it can be fake but we have also one poster here who saw the same.
Remember that we can keep the gas to the bottom miles in a row on the Autobahn without some Sheriff Buford T. Justice sniping in the bushes with his laser gun.

But I have done just 312km with mine yet and had no chance to check it out.

Normally those pics are taken from the passenger seat. The passenger takes 6 /7 shots and there's always a clear one I guess.

Checked the site ? Not to bad huh .....?

Oh, I was referring to the needles on the gauges. Trainsimple say's it's a clone photoshop, meaning the needles read something else, copies were made and placed in the position shown. I still don't see it, but I'm not convinced the driver snapped that picture off either, so who knows.

Did anyone read my previous post?

If the maximum speed is 171 miles/hour, then the car isn't going to go any faster unless it revs to like 8,000 RPMs.

Doesn't the maximum speed as indicated the Technical Manual occur at maximum RPMs (which, remember, is 7,400)?

Well IF it was true the speedo could just be way off at that speed.

I bet they took the picture while it was on a dyno.

The fastest I have ever heard of anyone driving a 348 was 186mph. That was a highly modified 348 that was also lightened. Now IF it is a real reading from the road then that speedo is way off.

Like the swimwear, the bulge is perhaps exciting, but not indicative of actual performance. Italian speedometers are the most optomistic, but that's better than not working at all[LUCAS]

I agree - at this speed and RPM, the oil pressure would be reading to the right of the gauge . . . unless the picture was snapped at the exact moment the engine blew up.

edit: Well, I've decided that it might actually be possible for the oil reading to be correct.

Sorry, that's the windshieldwiper I guess.

Just sharing the pic, I haven't tried it yet so fast. Just a quick 145 between the exits here.

I have had mine touching the 300 KPH.
My 348 has been modified (chipped etc).
Let me say this I was hanging on and having time to take a photo, its way to scary unless their was a passenger on board, but then the passenger I would say would be holding on, especially along a public road with the possiblity of others cars around.

Then there must be something wrong with the suspension set-up or wheel alignment.

At 155 mph in my t I can even release the steering wheel for some seconds w/o any need for steering input ...

So it must be possible under certain circumstances I guess.
When I go to The Ring next month I'm gonna try myself on the autobahn.

I had a modest 175mph/285kph on my Spider a few weeks ago before I ran out of straight. The laser trap said 161mph which means a believable 8% discrepancy.

The car was still pulling steadily so I have no reason not to believe that the advertised 175mph top speed is very doable.

I have a pic taken by my passenger, and that is as blurred as hell, so how come this one is so sharp without some digital trickery is beyond me.
