Anyone going to SEMA? I see that Emotion Engineering will be displaying a 348 with a KW suspension (and I’m sure other things). Very curious to see what KW may be able to offer us. I know nothing about the shop other than Zwart (car photographer that got me to sign up for instagram) liked/shared/loved?/whatever-you-call-it their post.
I went 2003-2006, then ended up out of automotive. Maybe again soon. I'll definitely be looking to see what KW does. sjd
The KW suspension is actually affordable and the car in question is owned by a model - it is coming out great Jesshart on IG for a preview of the setup
The 348 shocks and springs are nothing special at all and there's probably enough parts in KW's stock that they could put something together with pre-existing parts and custom valving. I hope it's something worth looking at.
Also on IG @race.service and @emotion_engineering Looks like a set of KW coil overs and a nose lifter. As someone who tracks a 348 Challenge quite a bit, would be nice to have a quality modern coil-over set-up to bolt-on to help improve track feel and performance
Like these? https://www.macgracing.co.uk/shop/ferrari/2718-quantum-twozero-dampers-for-ferrari-348-355-f40-v8-models.html https://www.okp.de/xtc2/Ferrari/50-Chassis/Springs-shocks/Bilstein-Race-shock-absorberr-Ferrari-348-front::24137.html
Kind of. But a complete coil-over package tuned for the 348. Not a generic deal, where you have to pick shock length, spring rates, etc... because you are just buying the damper as a seperate component, with a generic set-up that 'works' on multiple chassis. Also, something available in the states so they can be serviced quickly without the need to send across the pond for rebuilds or changes in valving.
Thinking the same. APEX race studs is where I used to get mine for the track. Edit - going with 75mm https://www.apexraceparts.com/apex-m12x1-5mm-bmw-5-lug-stud-kit.html
Weird replying to myself, but also just wanted to make note that Rob Schermerhorn and Delta Vee Motorsports in Michigan had always carried good real racing stuff in terms of coil-overs, and I was hoping to do something with them last year before they became unresponsive. I think others on here had commented about the same as well. Rob had been very involved in the Challenge series when the 348 / 355 platform was racing and they were supposed to have a very good package available that was "plug and play" in terms of suspension. Still lots of good info on the blog on their website.
I used Apex as well (studs and wheels) on my previous track car; good stuff and well-priced. Do the Apex BMW have the correct nut taper? Not sure what the spec is. If so, may reach out to them to set up a group buy for us.
I talked to someone at BC racing in Orlando. They can do it but need a volunteer who lives down there. I used their coilovers on a few cars and had no complaints especially for the price.
You are right just noticed that. Gonna reach out to them they have the m14 1.5 as well so they can switch it out. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Found these as well. No experience with the company. https://motorsporthardware.com/product-category/ferrari/wheel-stud-conversion-kits-ferrari/
So I talked to a parts person at APEX - they only carry M14 1.5 studs that ARP makes and they arent for our setups since they are designed to come through the back of the hub like for a Mustang. He sent me here and said they have it all and they refer here when they cant fill an order. I will reach out and report back. http://www.msirp.com/wheel-studs-index#legend
Maybe send a note to the folks that are doing the car for SEMA and ask them where they got them or if they sell them? Ill shoot them a message on there and see if they respond.
