I had a great track-day on Monday at Spa, Belgium. Open pit-lane and all-day session.

The car went great for most of the day, but late in the afternoon, when I was pushing a bit harder, the car started mis-firing. This only occurred when the car had been on full throttle for a long period (at the end of the long straight and at Blanchimont).

I had plenty of fuel on the car (3/4 tank) and the car ran perfectly all the way home (to Scotland).

Any thoughts from those that have tracked/raced their cars as to what it may be?

    cheers

    Jonathan

    Was it your rev-limiter?

That happened to me at the track.

Backfiring through your airfilter?? If so, could be a clogged fuel injector or dying O2 sensor or some other "lean" A/F mixture cause (fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, base MAF A/F setting, etc.).

Or missing cylinder burns entirely?? Could be a too large gap in one or more spark plugs or a lean misfire or even a sparkplug wire problem.

It is your electrical connectors. unplug and plug in all connections in the engine bay like the TPS, both plugs at the shock towers (ignitor and coil pack), ECU connections behind your seats, both plugs right by the oil filter that run the injectors (they unscrew about 3/4 turn and release)

Thanks for the ideas. Will try the electrical connections thing, as the car has had various electrical niggles in the past year.

    cheers

    Mark,

    Yes, that was me!

Hope I didn't hold you up too much! I felt oh so slow compared to some of the cars out there - particularly the Radical.

Thanks for the offer of the coil. Will keep you posted.

    Jonathan
