Of all the proven, durable, low maintenance drivetrains they could've put in a race car they chose a Ferrari V8 w/ cam belts? Ever heard of an LS?
Yes, but they would not have been "allowed" to install a Ferrari steering wheel and paint it Ferrari Red (Rosso Corsa?).
The car build predates the LS engine, seems they were built by a Scuderia Maranello in Belgum, later cars had the 355 engine
Nothing against General Motors, but if it had an LS engine, there would be no reason for this car to be on F-chat. I think it would be fantastic for a 348 owner to be able to enjoy this familiar & beloved powertrain in an 800kg track platform. Bonkers!
Maybe a displacement limit - you're not going to find much more power in a sub 3.5 liter NA motor, especially back when that car was built.
It's got that authentic Dubai Dust in the cockpit too! Back in the 90's I remember coming across what i initially thought was a Toyota MR2, smothered in Dubai Dust outside the Jumeriah Ace Hardware store, only to find on closer inspection, it was an "abandoned" F40. Still waiting for a response to the 'offer to buy' I posted under the wiper haha!
