I was rummaging around a box of misc parts that came with the car. Then I looked around the engine & noticed that one of the pieces in the box looks like it fits over the battery.

Is it important to be reinstalled? I tried to fit it on but there is a big round green knob over the terminal & a red wire strapped to the front that wont allow the piece to fit.

What do you guys think? Problem or not?

You don't really need the battery cover, but don't throw it away. The dealer would probably charge $200 for a new one. I've been driving my 348 for almost six years now without a battery cover, with no ill effect.

The big green knob is likely to be a disconnect switch, not original on cars with rear batteries, I don't think. Mine doesn't have one.

If you really want a battery cover, and the original one no longer fits, I think you can get bigger battery covers at marine supply stores. There is a lot more room to work around the battery if you remove the left rear tire and inner fender liner (easy).

I don’t know what the other folks are going to say.
But, I leave my battery cover off. It makes it much easier to hook my battery maintainer up to the battery & take it off again when I’m going out for a spin. Dave
