Anyone have a source for a replacement battery cover on the 348. Tried Eurospares..they say it is no longer available..sure I could easily fabricate one if I had a pattern....HELP!

Does your car have the battery in the front or the back? Makes a big difference....

Good golly! Mine is missing as well, it was never in the car since I bought it. It really does appear that it is just a piece of sheet metal with a folded edge and a couple of holes in it, and maybe a tab or two rivited on. Make it!

Mine is the same material as the exhaust heat shield... fiberglass-type material; Don't think it's carbon fiber... seems to fragile. If you can wait a day or two, I can take pics and dimensions of mine. Maybe it would even be better if I traced it on a standard sheet of paper, and post it. :)

Maybe I can help. ...$564 is a bit much!

It's hard to describe a 3-dimensional item but since I had mine out of my car:
Overall Length = 13 1/2" Overall Width = 9" Drop from Top surface to First lip (where two holes are located) = 1 7/8"
Lip with holes is about 1 1/4" deep, and 8 1/2" wide
Holes are 4 7/8" apart (center to center) and are 3/8" diameter.
The Lip (below holes) drops about 3/4"
The lip along the long side is 3/4" as well
The clip is 3/4" wide. The pop rivets are 1" apart. The rivet closest to the edge, is 1 1/4" in from the edge.
The tracing should help you to get the angles and curves correct, and the position of the clip, for that the end of the cover.
The sheet of paper I used is standard 8.5" x 11"

The pictures are all taken of the cover upside-down, so you could see the details. My written descriptions above are with the cover sitting correct-side up.

I realise that more pics - correct side up - will help too.
Also, there are 4 radiuses on the cover.
Let's call the long side, top surface to lip, as R1. The radius from the top surface, downwards (vertical) towards the holes as R2. The radius from the vertical to the lip where the holes are, as R3, and the radius from the holes' surface down to the final lip as R4.
    R1 is less than 1/4"radius.
    R2 is about 3/4"
R3 comes back out towards the holes at about 3/8"radius.
    R4 is about 1/4".

    Hope that helps.

    You guys are fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It make sense that is not metal...wouldn't want it touching the termilas.
I suspect mine was discarded by the original owner when he replaced the battery with one that is slightly taller than the original.
Off to get some fibreglass and resin.
Thanks again for the great help.
    Cheers

    Hey Klaar,

I have to make my own but as you can see from this thread (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183682), I have more pressing things to deal with at the moment. I figure I'll get to it some time in late June only...

Based on the pictiures/measurements provided in this thread.....I have made a mold for the fibreglass.
Planning on making a couple to see how they turn out....
If anyone needs one...more than happy to send you one.

I had the same problem prior to a track day. Went to Wal-Mart and the black plastic one they had fit perfectly except for the holes I had to drill to line up for the studs..install time-5 min. w/ no mods. My battery is in the back.

    Success!
First cover popped off the mould today..after setting up overnight...will trim and fit tomorrow.
Would be nice to have a paper template of the angle cut etc...anyone volunteering?
Think I'll pop a round Ferrari decal on for looks.

Which angles or dimensions are you after? Word descriptions may be difficult to interpret, so a pic or sketch showing what you need might be best. I have to leave now, but could probably help out later tonight.

    Rick,
The area with the angled cut is wher I have some dificulty.
The illustrations in the previous posts are great...however, to make this cover as close to the original...would be nice to have a template with the correct cut. (see the pictues posted earlier)
Not trying to reproduce what Ferrari has done...just want it to look good in the compartment and appear close to the orginal.

Klaar!! I did post a tracing of the Battery cover. You must have simply missed it.
Please go back and look at the first three pics I posted (Post #8). After the 3 pics, at the bottom, is the attachment. I had anticipated you'd need a tracing to get the angles correct so I traced the battery cover, scanned it and posted it.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need any other dimensions.

    Regards

You are absolutely correct...I did miss it. Just printed it off...really appreciate this. Have trimmed the new cover...looks and fits great.
    Thanks again.
As mentioned earlier..if anyone would like a one of these...just let me know. Now that I have the mould..it is just a matter of laying the matting and resin. Doesn't take long to trim and drill the holes. Finding some one inch wide sprng steel for the locating bracket is more of a challenge.
Thanks to everyone who helped with this project.
Oh! I used two plastic wing nuts from a dog kennel...had to thread them for the metric thread.
    It works.
