This winter I had a Ctek battery tender attached to the car all the time. But when I tried to start the car a couple of months ago it wouldn´t start. When this happend the firts thing on my mind was another battery dead, but a little later my toughts was on a bad battery ground point in the chassies. Just to check I removed the battery kill switch ( located above the battery in the front left part of the baggage compartment). And when I connected the battery directly to the chassie it fired right up. Looking closer to the battery kill switch I discoverd that it was in a incorrect position. it was locked between the on and off position creating an resistance of 4,7 M ohm. Then i took it a part and cleaned it. Now it works perfectly and I will install it again this weekend. I will post some pics later how it looks inside.
Excelent post thanks Marcus, went out and checked mine, was ok but good to have pics of what to expect if it needed to come apart.
Hi rustybits Ferrari will not use any Battery switch do to all this problems ! Oxidations will happen again This info is not only for this car is for all cars , The switch was not engineered well, if you remove the switch and have a AMG battery whit a battery voltage charger On your car in park position will OK not for now for a good time !!! Thank you
I certainly wouldn't recommend removing the battery cut-off switch. Like all parts of a car they wear and need replacing, it's not really a big deal to fit a new one.
Hi Eddie Is not my opinion is Ferrari Manufacture Engineers determination for this problem .Well %25 ME %45 SAT % 35WSE ( All). Jasu
And Eddie I have service 10 Ferrari's in Cyprus 3 months ago, there is no one in Cyprus that cud help there problems I fly to Cyprus diagnosed 6 (599, 3 x 360 & 2x 430) Ferrari's and fixing 2 - 4 maintenance (355, 360s ex ) and one I have shipped to Istanbul Ferrari & Maserati Service Do to the damage was so big!!! So if you conform? I will send business to you instate me flaying to Cyprus. I love Cyprus only I have to much to do in Italy And US. Please inform.
sorry there mate, but there is only one 599 in Cyprus at present, I know the owner well and strangely, he hasn't mentioned you. I have every Ferrari on this small island on my books, and as far as I am aware, none of their owners have had any cause to bring your superior talents here to fix anything...
I have nothing on you ! Please, I have service all Ferrari's @ Mr. Fikri,s New Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini Service in Nicosia, or Lefkoşa . so you have nice day yasu to you....?!?!? PS: please post a picture of you and your service This is Me www.ferrariengineer.com PSS: Ther are only 18 Ferraris on KKTC ? i do not your city ? Mr.Falyali have 3 Ferraris ? and 1 Pagani. Please update your book
Well, for a start, there is an official Msserati dealer in Nicosia, so i don't believe someone from outside the dealer network would have been bought here to service a new Maserati. Secondly, i'm not giving you any information about myself. I'm not going to get into a long drawn out debate with a student about my business. As far as i'm concerened, you have been here 5 minutes and managed to insult quite a few people here.
Eddie- Back to the battery cut-off switch. Would it help to use one of the spray battery terminal corrosion preventers on the interior parts of thr switch before reassembly? Taz Terry Phillips
absolutely Taz, and by the look of the photo posted by the OP he's going to get years more use out of the original switch just through a thorough clean up.
Ah but Eddie, if you can get 2 or 3 websites through GoDaddy and fit so much education into so short a time, (best in world- no less!) it makes anyone an expert, this IS the internet LOL! Wonder why he can use the F word and logo so freely? Maybe..
In Serkan's defense, I PM'd his boss and he is indeed a very competent, Ferrari trained technician with a technical degree. He is trying hard, but language is slowing him down a bit. I think he will end being a valuable addition to FChat, so we just need to be patient and help him grow. He, though, has to learn not to be confrontational on the points he is making, which language skills will help. Subtlety is a big help here on the Forum and has to be learned, except for those few who need and deserve to be bludgeoned. Taz Terry Phillips
Hi Is not ASE test's what was your last training date I'm going to day for Cam, Crankshaft Sensor timing ex... TST now you will say do you not know what is a cam ) You need to update your technics as fest as new engineering will happen thats the only way for costumer Satisfaction. Come to service will go his car fixed and will not com back whit the same problem!!! 15 Years of instant Training my friend...
His language skills don't bother me. His constant self promotion does. So does the fact that he acts as though he is the foremost authority when in fact he is just an apprentice in comparison to several of us here who do happen to know what we are talking about. He is very short on experience and it shows in his advice.

When you were in kindergarten some of us, myself included were already lead mechanics in Ferrari dealers. If you listen more and talk less you stand a good chance of learning something.
