great video.. but I dont think you had just the belts done for $16,000..?

I would assume this would be at least a full "major".. and a ton of other work/parts to arrive at 16k.. even for a dealer..

    yeah,

full belt service, water pump, alt bearings, plug wires ...since it was out of the car, everything that looked worn or ratty got replaced, cleaned and or reconditioned. I wanted to make sure I could drive clean this summer with no worries

I see where he mentioned plug wires. the Ferrari stealer wanted $2k for plug wires for my 355 a few years ago - so this could be part of the $16K.
BTW - I told the dealer to keep their wires and found others for $500. Still a rip off but better.

When I bought the car as is, dealer said b et service was done and I was good to go for 30K miles. turned out service was not done and also sticky bits in the car. I gave the car back to them I paid an additional 1,700 and they gave me the invoice for and said the if I had paid the whole service it would have been 16K. I agree, not sure where they came up with that number. the service also included all parts sent to Sticky nor more, brakes and seat were re-dyed

So the dealer originally told you the belt service was done and in fact it wasn't and you actually gave the car back to them to get screwed to the tune of $16,000!! You have to be kidding - right???

That what it sounds to me as well....he paid in total an additional $1700.00 for the $16,000.00 service because the dealer said the $16g service had already been done prior to the sale.

This is like those car commercials where it says "Professional on closed course. Don't try this at home.". At the end of the video it appears he is removing or installing nuts holding the cam bearings down with a completely exposed cylinder head. I would suggest for the amateur to stuff something in the nooks and crannies and spark plug holes. It's too easy to drop a bolt or washer and you don't want to be trying to fish it out of some cavern in the head or a cylinder.

My out of pocket costs were 1,700; the 16K number was told to me by the service writer and included the engine service also new tranny throw-out and seals as well as sticky parts and paint work; he painted the mat black area on the engine cover black and also replaced/repaired the front valence which was scratched underside, new stereo, custom speaker boxes for the rear deck. my favorite part was the entire engine was detailed before it went back into the car.

Much of the bill was labor costs, which the Maserati dealer absorbed. the guy doing the work is the only Ferrari authorized mechanic at the dealer
