I was reading this on a few other sites, but I could not verify it.
They stated the new generation of belts last a lot longer than the belts in the past. Is a new material being used?
Can anybody fill me in or verify this?
My service is due at the end of this year. Just filling my brain with as much info as I can.

They have an updated belt composition for 355-360 and newer V12 cars there is layer of kevlar material on the tooth side. I haven't seen an updated version for the 348 but that engine is the only single belt engine ferrari ever did so maybe the cost involved in the update wasn't worth the trouble. The old belt style works fine so I wouldn't worry about continuing to use it and change it at least every five years. Regards, Vern

A recent service bulletin says the factory recommends the change every three years. A few people here agree, but most think the 5 year interval is more appropriate.

...although it's shocking how many 348's are running around on the original belt. Most think it's 5 years for all cars except THEIR OWN.

When I changed mine it had been 4.5 years since it was last changed at a dealer. It had cracks and I don't think would have lasted another 6 months. Others have 20 year old belts that look new when they reove them so I guess all that matters is " Do you feel lucky? "
