Can anyone comment about replacement brake pads for a 348 Spider. It is the first time I am changing them 23K miles. I am debating whether or not to go OEM or to go aftermaket. I would like to know if anyone has long term experience with aftermarket pads and if so which brands? Should I just stick with the OEM's. They have not damaged the rotors and have lasted a good 13 years? From my resarch the oem's are about 4 times the price. For the length of time that they last, price is not to much of a concern I am just curious if there is an aftermakrket that is just as good as the OEM and will not damage the rotors. Thanks for your responses.
I have used pads from Stillen for both my 348 and now F355 spider with excellent results. They're called Metal Matrix and can be ordered online at www.stillen.com.Used the Drilled sport rotors also.
I use the Axxis metal master pads for my 348. They're great for street usage (no brake dust, really...no squeaks, no squeals, stop fast, last long, etc.). $56 here: http://www.buybrakes.com/axxis/apps-Ferrari.html WWW.tirerack.com has 348 rear rotors for $165 and front rotors for $250 that are great for the street. None of the above is heat-resistant enough for the track, though.
OEM Pads = Garbage ! I replaced mine with PORTERFIELD $85 per axle.(355) Ricambi. No More SQUEEEEEEL & Minimal Brake Dust ! They offer a Street & a Track version.
I agree with the guys above, don't bother with OEM. I have had good results from Pagid road pads. 348/355 pads also fit 911's so they are only expensive if they are in a Ferrari box.
Hawk Ceramics for the street and then Hawk DTC-70 pads for the track. The Ceramics dont dust at all and stop better than OEM on the street with no squeek. The DTC-70's squeal like hell but stop like it too on the track.
I'm just about to order pads so this is great timming. Which 911 mod pads are the same as my 348gts? Thanks, Mike D.
Its the 944 pads. I personally would just get them from tirerack as the price for Ferrari and 944 are identical.
On the Pagid box mine came in it's the 911 3.6 Carrera2 91'-93' OR 944 89'-92' There might not be a TireRack in Hong Kong but you could ask the supplier to cross ref Ferodo FDS451DS2 and see what applications come up.

Thanks eveyone for your replies. I know the Ferrod pads have room for the sensors. Do the Axis Hawk and Porterfield have a built in space for the sensors? Do any of the companies offer the sensors or is it only on the OEM. Bob348 do the Ferrodo's leave a lot of dust?
I use EBC greenstuff pads...I like 'em, and there cheap! They do have places for the sensors... I think they are the same sensors as porsche's use.
The EBC Greenstuff pads are great...but throw out a fair amount fo brake dust. (if you wash your car less often, go with the Axxis MetalMaster pads)
