Does anyone manufacture any carbon fiber airboxes / intakes for the 348 as of yet?..........Thanks

Try BMC Filters. http://www.bmcairfilter.com/ They make the CDA(Carbon Dynamic Airbox) air filter and they do a kit for the 348. In truth it is a universal kit which they give you 2 off. Fairly easy to fit although it does require a little bit of magic to get it right.
You would also need a couple of breather filters to stick on the end of the secondary/exhaust air pipes.

I have fitted these to my 348 and very pleased. makes the engine bay look alot more race engine like and along with the claimed BHP increase, upto 20 BHP, not tested though, you also get a change in exhaust note. Noisier!
Another thing I have noticed is when you boot it you get a whistle, almost like a turbo whistle as the car sucks in alot more air than before.

Here is a pic of my engine bay

We're working on it, although truth be told it's not at the top of our priority list. Should it be closer to the top?

Hi Guys, I have to think that its alot more than just making a box out of C/F. BMC made air filters for Ferrari F1 and have a good standing within motor sport. The CDA design is all around internal filter design and the external C/F finish is part of the overall design for heat insulation. I think Gruppe do a replacement as well but is mega bucks.
    But thats just IMO

Those do look neat - and by all accounts these guys do make a good filter - we've used their flat filters (customer supplied) with our f430 carbon fiber airboxes. If we make a carbon airbox for the 348, it will probably be closer to the stock airbox with the flat filter.

The CDA is kind of like a conical air filter in a tube, in reverse, right?

    Thanks everyone for the input.
It would seem that there is enough of us 348'ers around to justify the R&D, but maybe not?
I'm sure that many hours of design and engineering would have to be spent
to do it right and turn a profit.
Both concepts sound great. It would just be great to pop the bonnet and see something that is as cool as the concepts developed for the 360 / 430.
Also, looking around the net the other night and came across a 348 yellow prototype with a glass (reveal) rear bonnet, interesting?
    Thanks again.

is it adviseable to have the filter mounted immediately before the MAF ?

Got ya. I suppose a stock C/F replacement air box would look quite good. The original with the stipple effect is difficult to keep clean and looking good. Now if you could do something along the lines of the 355 airboxes that would be cool.

And yes your right about the CDA conical design. Supposed to improve air flow pattern as it is supplied to the engine.

Not sure what your point is. The stock air box connects directly to the maff as well.

I am in the process of R/D an air box and intake tubes. The bottom of the box would be aluminum and fit over the cross tubes that support the oem air box. It would be a single bottom box with two mirrored covers. I am looking for an exsisting flat top cover, maybe something more common that will fit on top, the new aluminum or SS intake tubes would be bend to fit the air box outlets. I am looking to see if the boxes from a 360 would work for the top, if any one has dimensions that would help
