Every now and then the central locking on my 348 gets itself in a state of confusion and the passenger side door will not unlock except with some carefully timed turning of the key in the lock and pulling on the inside door opener. When I try to unlock it, it just relocks itself straight away. One time it just kept locking and unlocking itself over and over again! This seems to happen most often whenever the door locking button on the centre console is pressed. Anyone come across this problem before?

Coincidently (or maybe not!) last week I couldn't close the passenger door as it seemed like it was catching on something. I had a good look at the door and saw something sticking out from the lock area - you can see this in the attached pics. I pushed it back into the opening and the door closed and could be locked and unlocked ok as well as opened using both the internal and external openers, so I've no idea what it was. Any suggestions welcome!

    Cheers,

    Pete

Don't know what that is sir, but I would pull the door panel and look. I had my lock mechs out last week and didn't see anything like that in there! Scott

That's your window motor cable. Lower/raise your window with that door open and it should move.

...or you may need to remove the window mechanism for a little repair (easy to do).

Oh, by the way, your central locking will go nuts if the locks don't lock all of the way or if either door isn't fully closed.

There's an entire section on the matter at the 348 Primer link below:
