I have a problem with my '91 348 TB's central locking system. Using the key in the driver's door will lock both the driver's and passenger's doors (right hand drive car) but will unlock only the driver's door, not the passenger's. The key in the passenger's door will lock and unlock both doors. The key fob will lock and unlock both doors as normal. At the same time I'm getting some strange signals from the alarm system and my battery is draining.

Could anyone who has had a similar experience, or has any idea what the problem might be, point me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

The problem is likely to be in your aftermarket alarm. My own opinion is that Italian electrics are too fragile to be burdened with such additional components.

Thanks N.D. I've now been told that unlocking the driver's door with the key isn't supposed to unlock the passenger's door too, so it seems I don't have a central locking problem, just the alarm problem as you suggest!

They sometimes can't even be burdened with A/C, horns, ignition, or any other trivial stff. ;)

For the recrod, my 348 has always unlocked both doors, with an aftermarket alarm and without.

John - I assume that is using the key in the door lock. If I use the key in the passenger's door (your driver's door) it does unlock both doors, but not if I use it in the driver's door (your passenger's door). If I use the button on the fob it unlocks both doors. I feel my brain beginning to hurt ;)

Hmm, I've never actually unlocked the passenger side door with my key. I'll have to try it next time I'm out.

Yes, the car is left hand (US spec) drive.

Hi - My '92 348tb door locks both work fine. Key in either side unlocks both doors. But, I never realised that 348's came with a key fob (wireless) lock/unlock system. Do they? Ferrari dealership where I purchased the car simply gave me two sets of keys and never mentioned that the key fob (wireless) push button unit was missing. ...and dumb me, never asked! Thanks.

The fob probably came with the aftermarket alarm system rather than being original equipment, there certainly doesn't appear to be any mention of it in the manual.
