Still being a newbie on this board (but not to cars and d-i-y and other marques) I hereby apologise that I'm selfishly going to be asking for quite a few tips in the next weeks. Believe me, I wish I would be able to contribute more myself, but it's gonna take a while to reach the ernie and Rifledriver black-belt standard!

I bought my first F-Car, a 348GTS, a few months ago but have only started to look at it in detail now. I've discovered that something seems to be slightly amiss with the alignment of the centre console. I can't find anything which looks bent or damaged but, as you can see from the photos, it's definitely not squarely aligned.

The car itself has a complete service history and is definitely not accident-damaged. The console doesn't appear to have ever been removed for fitting a mobile phone or anything like that. All other interior panels seem to sit OK including glovebox lid etc.

Are they ALL like mine? Is it just production tolerance, or are there four magic screws on the fascia which I can loosen and realign everything? Or can anyone point me in the right direction for loosening off the console side attachments to ease it all back into square. I'm afraid that, due to working abroad, I don't have daily access to the car and only have an hour or so every two weeks to 'experience' it, and I don't spend that hour tinkering in the footwell !

    Thanks in advance

    Drew

(PS, please ignore the tatty state of the interior and the tasteless sticker! I've just not yet had access to the car to start pampering it. Really my idea of an interior is a lot different to the current standard - including the hi-tech radio-cassette!)

It should'nt be the way the pic is. The pieces fit quite well together. Maybe you need to take it off and realign and screw on. Should be fine then.

Thanks for the first feedbacks! So is the console a one-piece item, or are the sides screwed onto a frame of some sort?

What plastic or unobtanium clips are going to snap off like raw carrots when I wave a screwdriver at the assembly?

It's pretty easy, i have to do it all the time to fix the heater console, you can do it without taking the ashtray screws out but if you take it all apart you have more room so less chance of damaging anything.there is a screw each side of the console in the footwells if memory serves me right, undo those, gear gate and 2 screws under ashtray. You should be able to slide everything foward, stretch the opening a bit with your hand as you pull it out or you may scratch the leather (i did on my first time i was gutted!). Just don't rush it and you'll be fine!
