My 1990 348tb does not show a charge when tested at the battery. I removed the alternator and it showed a little over 14 volts. The battery is a new Optima. Before I take the alternator off again, is there anything else to check. The alternator is a Delco.

Yes have a look at the bullet connector. Sometimes the connection gets loose, or completely comes out. Unplug the male end from the female end, then plug it back together. Check to see if that fixxed your problem. Or, you can do what other have done and just get rid of the stupid thing all together. You can put a solid cable from the starter to the battery. Then you won't have to worry about it having a bad connection. Oh yeah, you can find the connector towards the back of the engine bay behind the air box.

Which side of the airbox? Closer to the exhaust or the oil filter?

I think ernie is referring to the bullet connector on the battery lead. (Rear battery = left-rear wheel well) It's a twist-type quick release connection. Make sure it's also clipped in place in the little bracket (rear side of left-rear wheel arch). Maybe it's vibrating loose or something?

Yeah that is the one I'm talking about. Just follow the positive cable, coming off of the battery, back towards the starter until you come to the connector. Also make sure that your grounds are properly connected. Have a look at the one that is attatched to the bottom rear part of the frame, to the left of the exhaust. You will be able to see it from the bottom rear of the car.
