    Just picked up my car today and while drive the "Check Engine 1/4 Dash Light" came on and then went out again. It stayed on for about 3 minutes. The car has been sitting in a show room for about 3 months before I bought it. Could this be because of old gasoline or something like that?

    It's probably a "ghost". You can download fault codes that are stored in the Motronic ECU's, then erase them from the memory and start over. If the battery went dead (jump start) or was replaced while the car was in the showroom, and the ECU's were not "re-initialized", that could also account for the warning light. Keep an eye on it for a few days. It's not an indication that your engine is about to blow up.
