I am getting a "Check Engine 5-8" light on and the car is running on 4 cyls. When I hit the button on the rear left side I get a long single flash of this "Check Engine 5-8" light, followed by 1, 4, 1, 2. I assume that the long single flash means that you start counting the flashes AFTER that one? If so, accd to a search I did here, I found that the 348 Motronic 2.7 1412 code means injection valve 4. Would this be the same on my '95 355 2.7? Thanks!

    Mmmm?

    I don't think so?
I don't have the codes in front of me but, I don't think the 348's have that code. Why? Because 348's don't have air injection pumps and 355's do. I don't know for sure, and just going on a pure guess, but it could be that one of the valves for your pump have gone bad??????? Again that's a total guess. Those would be #8 in this diagram. http://www.ricambiamerica.com/parts_catalogs.php?M=FE&P=&V=diag&I=1354 And just from the diagram don't "look" as though they would be too hard to change.

Hmmm, I did a search on "error codes" and the only reference that I could find to 1412 is in the following chart, courtesy of No Doubt:

Here is the list of public, known Ferrari 348 Motronic 2.7 error codes:
Hot wire air flow meter 1111
    Engine coolant temp sensor 1112
    Throttle potentiometer 1113
Lambda sensor (O2 Sensor typically unplugged or bad ground or bad sensor) 1114
RPM sensor 1121 (this code will be shown if checked when your engine is off)
    Battery voltage 1122
    Secondary air solenoid valve 1123
Purge valve 1124 (the purge valves are marked as part #21 in this diagram)
Lambda regulation Additive value for self adaptation (O2 sensor or coolant temperature sensor or MAF) 1211
Lambda regulation multiplicative value for self adaptation 1212
Lambda regulation intake manifold compensation (MAF or O2?) 1212 (1213?)
Short circuit on idle regulator 1311
Open circuit on idle regulator 1312
    Electronic control unit 1313
    Injection valve 1 1411
    Injection valve 4 1412
    Injection valve 2 1413
    Injection valve 3 1414
Malfunction Indicator Lights (MIL) 1444 *dash light burned out
    Valve 4111
    Stroke sensor 4112
    Power module not used 4113
    TDC control unit recognition 4114
    Catalyzer temp ECU 4121
    Catalyzer temp too high 4122
    Speedometer signal 4123
    Compressor connection signal 4131
    No error detected 4444

...all of the error codes above are stored on the Motronic 2.7 eprom, plus these eight previously undocumented faults:
    2111
    2123
    2124
    2312
    2411
    2412
    2413

Not to be a pest, but can anyone confirm that an error code of 1412 (injection valve 4) does in fact mean that part #159177 is causing the error code? I hate to spend $225 if that's not the problem. Thank you!!

    Hmmmm?

    Maybe it's a fuel injector?

Hi - I can't confirm on the part # you're asking about but I'm looking at the shop manual for F355 Motronic 2.7 and your error code 1412 is specified as Injection valve 4 AND 8...FWIW. Hope you already have it fixed by now.
