I am considering a 348 ts which is available out of state, and I had a few basic questions regarding that hopefully are easy for the cognoscenti to answer.

How much headroom is there in a ts for a 6'3" driver - will I have problems with helmet clearance for track days?

What is the typical wet weight of the car?

What is the typical hp at the rear wheels?

Are there any consensus "soft spots" for the 348 when used for a few track days a year?

    I appreciate the feedback.

    Thanks.

348's are wonderful track cars. For headroom with helmet on, take off the top. For legroom you are going to be moving the seat to its rearward position which will make reaching the steering wheel uncomfortable unless you install a 1" spacer (easy).

You are going to LOVE the 348's brakes on the track!

You will definitely have helmet issues especially if the tops remain installed.

Weights range but figure about 3100 lbs without you in it and minimal fluids.

RWHP ranges depending on what you use to measure it. Figure about 255HP± using a drum dyno or around 300HP using an axle dyno. This is assuming you have some modest mods such as intake and exhaust. About 8% less without.

Soft spots, aka weak points, of the car for track days are:
    clutch wear
trans damage if you do not warm it up first
crasked body pieces that you cannot replace (so shield them)

Obviously you will want to make sure that the moving pieces are fresh or in good repair before you track it.

But otherwise, not too much to worry about as long as you don't thrash the car.

    Thank you for the replys.

The car I'm looking at was discussed here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=354894

Since it is not federalized, to justify the purchase (and keep the car healthy) I need to really run a few track days a year. Most of the time I drive a dedicated track car, but this is very different from what I normally track and I think it would be a ton of fun.

I've been doing my homework on the car trying to value it, and it is coming together. If anybody has more insight - please feel free to send me a pm.

    Thanks again,

    - Blaine
