    Andreas,

Nice pics. I rented a 348 in Maui about 4 years ago, and that was the car I learned how to drive stick in. A few months later I bought the 308. A friend just bought a red/tan 348 spyder from FVM a few weeks ago. They're fun cars.

Ah, that was you! They told me some guy just ruined the gearbox when I took delivery of the car...:)

Seriously, my rental was in soso shape: On the way home I run on 4 cylinders. That made for interesting driving at the downtown redlights: I had to really rev it up to even get going and in the middle of the intersection the other 4 cylinders would kick in and kaboom I got this kick in the pants and lurge forward like a rocket. It was hard to control. Spun twice on an intersection. But before that the car was just great.

Sure Andreas, downtown Vegas strip, hot car, and you couldn't control it or were you showing off just a little, or both?

    Hehe. You got me.

And for those that have seen my movie: It was that car that's in a quick scene there: "Hey Brock! You 'ave fun with training, I 'ave fun with Ferrari!"

I like the 348's. The Convertibles look good, IMO. Jerry's dad over in Muskegon has a Black one that looks and sounds absolutely Wicked!...:) The only "issues" that I think that they had were that the early ones weren't as good as the later ones. ( I believe that they made them from 1990 to 1995.) But, I suppose that is the case with just about any car, really. Better implementations come along every year. But who cares...a Ferrari is a Ferrari!

But the Servicing aspect issue is suposed to be the bear. It is more expensive because of the way in which they have to do the servicing. I am not sure exactly why, as I don't own one. Someone else here probably knows. But I remember being at an Open House at Continental. And Gary mentioned that it was more labor intensive (which translates into cost intensive) because they would have to pull out the whole thing-Engine, Rear Suspension, rear of the Frame-everything, in a "Cradle" made from the Frame and suspension. In order to be able to get in and into the engine. Or something along those lines...

So if you are looking at one. Make Sure to get current Service Records that can be proven, showing when it was last done. If they don't have them, assume that the car will need it. Then, call around and get a price for a 348 Major Service and use it as a bartering tool in the purchase price of the car.

    Good luck there, Rick!

    There is a red/tan 95 @ LFSC now... asking 70K I think, which seems like a lot....

Yeah, I agree with you. Unless it's absolutely mint. I know of a Black/Black 1995 348 Spider. Has mileage in the 40K range, but was recently serviced, for $50K.

And you can regularly find 348 TB and TS in the high 40's to 50's. Spiders in the 50-60's.

But, ofcourse, I have not seen those cars in person. So it's hard to say. These are just what I've seen advertised in the various Automobile Publications that I get every month.

70K is more than what I paid for my 355?
There have been a couple of 348 spiders that have been priced in the 60's but that is about it.
You could probably find a 355 with some miles (off color which means not red) somewhere mid 60's low 70's.

    That is my $0.02

    Thanks.

Dude, check that one out! That is a bargain. Even with the higher mileage I would think that car should be at least $55k. I would expect it to be pretty beat up at that price.

    Is your 355 a spider?

Check out the 348/355 model section, there is a plethora of information. There is a link to a site there too which has a whole compilation of data and information about ownership, maintenace, etc.

I've had my '94 Spider for 27 months now and I can honestly say, I still love it.

Fun to drive, decent performance, an excellent experience. Good luck!

Hello there, Mike! Yes, your 348 Spider is very nice. Red and Tan. Very nice and a very clean car. I love those cars. You would know more than I do about the servicing aspects than I would.

Are you coming to the Air Show again this Year?

Hey Frank! I hope all is well in Chi-town.

I'm planning on the Airshow again this year. My wife seems to think the Spider should be gone before then. :)

I told her I'm trying to sell it, but I'm having a hard time finding someone to accept even close to my asking price. Of course, I didn't tell her that I'm asking ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Hey, if my lucky stars are on my side, I'll see you in Muskegon, maybe even at the Vet show!

    :)

Whatchutalkinbout there, Willis! Sell your Baby!?!? You can't!!!! Just remind the Mrs., ( and this goes for all Married guys, BTW....:) )

Tell her to remember that Big, Expensive Wedding. "Her" day. The Costly Wedding Gown, which would be worn only for ONE DAY!!!!! The Rings. The Banquet Hall. The Flowers. The Invitations. The Centerpieces. The Band or DJ. The Limos. And all of that other crap that you just "have to do" that goes along with it...Etc...Etc...Etc...That all probably cost $20Grand or so!!!!

And then, remind her that you had a $50.00 Rented Tux. and shoes that day.

Then, the day that you guys bought "Her Dreamhouse" and let her go nuts in spending tons of Money at Home Depot. And Linens and Things. And Bed, Bath and Beyond. Etc...So that she could give the house all of "her own special touches"....

Then, you work your ass off, day after day after day....Then.....THEN!....you go home and have a "Honeydo List" waiting for you.... MORE work for you to do!...

There in lies the reasoning in which you deserve to have YOUR Dream car!

Hey Frank, I'll let you know how it works. Every once in a while, she has me convinced, then I take a drive in the car, or my 2 and a half year old says..."Daddy, I want to go for a ride in my Ferrari" and then I start dreaming up ideas like:

Huh, I'll just tell Lisa it's Allison's (the 2.5 year old) car and she'll have to break the news to her!

LOL We'll see how it works out. There's a ton of things at stake. She is working part time and would like to quit all together. She's worried about how that will affect the finances when in fact, her salary is pretty much not even covering the cost of day care, so you do the math! :)
