    Hi Guys,
Well I have a new problem. Not a big one but something to look into. My 348 has a slow drip of coolant at the center/front of the engine. I cannot see where it is coming from while looking from the top. Now the the coolant in the tank looks fine, no milkyness and the drip is very slow. The engine runs and heats up fine as well and the temp does not surge either. I have heat as well. Both fans come on and I do not here any squeal or smell any melting belt rubber. The interesting part is that the coolant does not drip when the engine is hot only when it cools down. I have checked the overflow tube on the same side as the expansion tank and the coolant is not coming from there. I am hoping this is just a bad/loose hose. I will try to get the car jacked up this week and take a look. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cool, thanks for the link. Very informative! I will pick up some 3/8 hose on my way home today, I may actually have some 3/8 braided stainless in the garage for all I know. This will be the first time I jack the car up. I'm a little more worried about that than the leak now. I read a few threads about how to do it so we'll see if I paid attention ;). So will I need to air bleed the cooling system afterward?

Yes, when you remove the hose coolant will drain out.

Good luck - but don't rely on the jack alone to hold the car. Use some blocks or stands or something as a backup... I hear it's fairly easy to die under a car.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Oh I will be using jack stands for sure. I am mostly worried about the placement of those stands. This is my first mid-engined car and I worry about the weight placement on the stands. Also, I was planning on putting the car on stands front and rear because I want to do some other work this winter, not too sure on how to jack it up. I must say I do love this forum, I get quick replies and the advice seems to be tried and true.

Thanks! I will probably jack the car up from the side before putting it on the stands fore and aft. Should this be done before the rear wheels, middle?

Jacking point ahead of the rear wheels should do the trick.

I had a similar problem with mine. Turned out to be the thermostat gasket.

Hmmmm.... Looks like I have to check a few things. I think it will be something simple or at least I hope it will.

Sounds a lot like my coolant issue which was a easy fix, it was the 3/8" hose. To repair you don't need to jack the car up. The hose is 3/8" but fits very tight on the nipple so a little lube goes a long way. To get the end under the intake off you need to remove the airbox and be prepared to swear a bit while you try to get the hose off. I had a hard time as my hands did not fit for this type of repair, not a hard repair but tough to access some parts of the repair.

My leak looked like a bad waterpump so don't fret, it usually is the hose and is a cheap fix.

Good thing I don't have to jack it up, I just found out I don't have a low enough jack ;). I'm going to feel around and se if it is the hose, hope so.

PAP you are the best! I'm going to put it up on stands either way, just can't right now. Those pics are going to help a ton.

Just found the leak. Checked from the top and bottom. It's the 3/8 hose at the front of the motor. I have no idea how I will get my hands in there but I will give it a try.

It's not that bad, start with the air filter housing then it will be must clearer to see the issue at hand. I also had to remove the two electrical connectors and the mount that hold them. After that it was much easier to get to the hose... Not hard just time consuming.... Be thankfull that it is teh hose and not the pump that is an engine out deal!
