    Hi.

First I would like to thank all the participants of
this great forum for all outstanding help!

I just sold my 328 and want to "upgrade" to a 348.
Since I have an opportunity to buy a Ferrari from the US
(about zero $ in shipping due to a freighter friend) I want
to know the difference between a US and an European model.
Here in Sweden, a good example of a 348 TB (well maintained
and with a complete servicebook) would cost me around $40000.

    What are the main differences?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

There are a lot of parts that are different even on cars that are for different countries of Europe. It will also vary by which model year you are buying. The differences in US cars from Euro cars would take a lot of time to type out so I'll give you the major differences. The ECUs are different for more stringent emission laws, the cam timing is a few degrees different. The US cars actually have an advantage over the rest in that you can do a self diagnostic check of ECU codes to help determine why the CELs might light up on you. Bumpers are stronger/heavier(2.5 mile impact regs.) side marker lights in bumpers, 3rd/center brake light, seat belts are different, all US cars have cats on them not all Euro 348s do, mufflers/silencer are different. Head lights are different (bulb style used), doors have impact protection beams, radio will be a US version different freq. Speedo is mph vs kph and guages will not be metric/C degree. This is just a short list of the major differences there are a lot more. Get a '94 version of the parts book for this car and you can find every piece that would effect a US/Candian car vs a Euro version. Hope this helps. Regards, Vern
