Nice pics. What is the plan for this? Must be more than bearing replacement.

thanks, the plan is to re-arrange the abrasive discs/plates on the left and right side of the limited slip to give less slip.
The 2 pics show what i mean... the first one shows how it is originally. (Plate/AD/AD/Plate)
The next pic shows the re-arrangment. (AD/Plate/AD/Plate)
There was a post on this mod but i cant find it. I will try and find it and post the link.

also i found one of the two washers to have a brocken/missing tit. Must find a washer.

good post!, this is very important for me because I need check my diff too, I think is in good condition but a time ago one mechanic said to me that not was in good condition.

I have checked my lsd and has 40 NM about whith one tire in the floor and the other in the air, I don´t know if 40 nm is correct or not, the mechanic said to me 140 nm :S

somebody knows some about this ?

where did you buy the rings ?

    Ah, makes perfect sense now.

Can you get that out without removing the gearbox?

if you mean the discs/plates... they are already there. Just have to re-arrange them. I never added any.

no, you have to remove the gearbox. I also had to take the layshaft out before i could get the diff out. You may be able to remove the diff bearings then take it out without taking the gearbox apart but not sure. Maybe some who has done it can chime in.

Ernie believes he has removed his diff without removing the layshaft, but we weren't able to on Steve's nor was I on mine, so perhaps Ernie is hallucinating again, common when working with LSD. Ernie also has experience with experimenting with ramp angles on the LSD. I'm sure he'll chime in or maybe send him a PM.

    Nice work Daniel!

I'm glad that post was able to help someone else out.

The detent on that spacer, did you find it in the diff, or is it m.i.a.?

    Hahaha.

Yeah I was WRONG about that, I admit it.

Though about the ramp angles, no experience there Bruce. Back when we dug into my tranny I was just curious as to how they affected the LSD, but I didn't touch them, left them as they came from the factory. But as you can see in the link Daniel posted I did stagger the friction plates.

Yes, that post has lots of great info for the track junkie.
    spacer detent is MIA...

was holding one end of the diff and tried to spin the other... wouldn't turn by hand so i must have some static preload. I will try and measure how much i have with the plates re-aranged.
Ernie did you have/measure your preload?

We tried, and tried, and tried to measure the preload but couldn't. I'm guessing we were doing it wrong? We left one wheel on the ground and lifted the other off the ground. If my memory serves me correctly, we then turn the wheel that was off the ground to try and measure the resistance = NONE. Yup that's right we got no resistance. As a matter of fact I think we could even turn the wheel by hand = no preload? We then tried it same thing on fatbillybob's car and got the same result = no resistance. And YES this was AFTER I staggered the plates!

So I have no idea what we were doing wrong, nor how to get the measurement?
