I currently have my 348 in the air spraying dintrol rust proofing on the engine subframe and chassis - good stuff this !! Anyway, thought I would check over the brakes and removed the calipers. I have noticed that the inner face of the rear brake disc (both sides) has uneven wear in that, only the centre 50% has signs of wear, the two outer portions are rusty. I have prised the pistons back to ensure they are not sticking and all seems well. The inner pad is mis-shapen to match. I have also rattled the pads in situ to ensure that have free movement. Any clues as to the uneven wear ? John
John, Sounds like the brake discs needs grinding, I would measure the thickness of the discs in different positions and see what the difference is, might not be a bad idea to check the "run-out" at the same time. Bear in mind you can only grind the discs up to the recommended minimum thickness, which I can't find and will post later!
John, Nominal thickness 24mm - minimum thickness 22mm, these figures come from the manufacturer, Brembo.
Thanks Malcolm, I will get them skimmed later, and change pads at the same time. I was just wondering what could cause it. It is strange its on both left & right discs and both on inner surface. Never mind - another job for the future - at least the caliper bolts came out. john
