Anyone know how to get the door lock removed on a 348 door.

I have all the interior panel/liner/window mechanisim etc removed and can see a metal bracket holding the door push (with key lock).

what i cannot figure out is how to remove the 2 nuts that hold the bracket to the door.

Please note I am not talking about the door catch/solendoid assembly but the door push button & barrel lock.

I think one is accessed from under the external door fin but cannot see how the other is attached.

    Advice welcome.

On another note I will post a picture of what cost me in access of £93+VAT.

I know Ferrari bits are expensive but this is extortionate to the point of robbery

This was one of the first jobs I did when I purchased my 348 five years ago, and I'm afraid I can't remember all of the details. What I CAN remember is that it was an absolute hair-pulling, teeth-gnashing job to get at those bolts from the inside, and that I didn't know at the time that the outer door "strake" section can be easily removed for access. Don't even try to do the job without pulling the strakes.

I suppose you might have the same problem I had - the back of the tumbler housing broke off, so the linkage arm couldn't be attached to it. I tried fixing it with epoxy, and it worked temporarily, but eventually I knew that I had to replace the housing, and Ferrari only sells the entire pushbutton assembly, so I still have the new assembly sitting in my parts box. I just took the little housing out of it and installed it in the old assembly, so I didn't have to wait to paint the new part. Another Ferrari "rip".

    This is what broke, right?

    Jeff,

We are in the same place.

Having stripped everything down, I have now started on the strakes.

All bolts out bar 2 - they won't budge so I will have to think of other more brutal methods.

I ordered item 31 in your drawing as I to had the linkage fall off.

I still have figured how it all goes back but the item you highlighted looks intact.

I basically bought a bunch of spring washers and a small plastic part for £93

You right though - this is a very painful exercise

John: My memory has gone bad. Here is a picture of the piece that was broken on my car. I can't remember if it's a piece of the tumbler, or the tumbler housing. My old invoice shows that I purchased part #62108810 for $75.35 in November 2000. The end of it is attached with a circlip to the cranked linkage piece. Whatever I did, it worked.

    Jeff,

It IS the item you highhlighted that broke on my car.

It just looked a poor drawing on the PARTLIST in comparison to the real thing but looking again its now clear.

What makes me nervous is the old part was metal but the new one is plastic.

I am now trying to get item 33 off, so I can get 30 off and rebuild it

What a load of cheap rubbish

Its the common problem, fantastic mechanicals, terrible cheap trim.

    Cheers

    John
