Guys, The door locks on my 348 are triggering locked all the time. When I unlock the car from my key fob, the locks open and then immediately lock again. Anyone had this? Going to check the wire bundle from the door to check for any breakages, and I've disconnected the door close switch in the central console but this made no difference. Any help apprecriated, Simon.
i know this thread is old, but i just ran into this on a 91 348. i found that if you open the door, push the lock button and close the door, the lock doesn't move all the way into the locked position. this seems to make the lock motor do it's up and down dance. i pulled the drivers lock assy and tried this by using the latch and leaving the wiring attached. there's a couple of little blocking plates that either don't move into lock or don't move out of lock, which also means the door will stick and seem locked while unlocked. the lower jaw will not move but the upper 1 will. what i found means that the door has to be locked with the key, not the button. this hasn't failed---------yet. door's been together for 3 days now. btw, i'm not an owner, just a wrench who's fixed a coupla problems on a 308 thanks to y'all. this 348 hasn't ALL the typical problems i've read about-but i'm sure i'll be back when this 1 comes back for something. thanks, chuck.
Make sure both doors are really firmly and completely closed. My remote unlock system does the exact same thing if the doors are totally closed. IIRK, it'll also go bonkers if the engine lid or bonnet isn't totally closed too. Mine (probably like all 348 aftermarket remote unlocks) is made by DEI.
Mine does the same - passenger side only - and not every time. I put it down to adjustments because if I grap the lock button on the door and yank it upwards on the upstroke so to speak, it will suddenly stay in the unlocked position. Not sure why it does this but will pull it apart one of these days.
My 308 did it. Turned out that the door knob was screwed too far into the door not allowing enough movement on the relay switch which made the relay go nuts. Turned out the original owner stripped the knob & that was the only way it would stay on the threaded shaft. One new knob later & all is well. I've had the door panel off & checked this and the amount of travel by the door knob is very limited to activate the relay. BTW: the panel was off today because the key would turn, but the lock wouldn't move. There's a small pin in the end of the lock that fell out so turning the key turned the tumblers, but nothing else. I suspect the pin went out the door's drainage hole Until I find a used lock (a locksmith couldn't help), I used a piece of Romex ground wire cut down to the proper size. It was malleable enough to do the job.
