Tried a search but no joy - only an interesting post on Dapens garage floor. How big a job is this? Should I leave it to a dealer? Wheel re-alignment after? Special tools? Time? Be gentle as I am a Ferrari clanky virgin (never laid a tool on my Ferrari)
John I replaced the rh boot on my 348 spider and ended up stripping the whole hub out with the drive shaft in 'situ' as I couldn't undo the large bolt on the driveshaft which is very very tight. It's not particularly difficult if youre a good spannerman however it is very filthy and nasty, especially if the boot has split and shed grease all over the place. No special tools required, however you will need cir-clip pliers, spring compressors, etc. It took about 4-6 hours from start to finish. My advice would be to get a specialist (not main dealer) to sort it. However DO NOT get the boot kit from Ferrari they will want about £300.00 and if you can fin an alternative that is the same size from a standard car you will save ££££££££££££. Just my advice, if you do want a crack at it let me know and give you some more info. Good Luck Julian
Here's one thread http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32937&highlight=348+cv+boot I think you were using the wrong words to search with. The boot you are trying to replace is on the Constant Velocity Joint, or CJ joint. So the boot would be called the CV Boot.
