These are the little gremlins that pop up on cars that sat unused for extended periods as yours did. I think your got 1 or 2 new fuel pumps just before you bought it. Factor in the fact that you got a smoking good deal on it and in short order you'll have it sorted out and in tip top shape. You soon learn a lot of what goes wrong on these cars is not that expensive to repair and even the weekend mechanic can do most of it. When crap goes wrong just take a deep breath and remember how easy it was to fix the last little curve ball your new Italian wife tossed at you and how you fixed it yourself for justa couple bucks.

Ben, did you know the car before I got it? And yes, both of the fuel pumps were replaced shortly before I got the car.

I spoke to Mr Wolf several times since we both had our cars listed on Cars.com at the same time. He used to be on here once in a while as well. Seems like a nice guy with more toys than he could play with so the car just sat unused. Someone showed up to buy the car before you and it wouldn't start due to the fuels pumps. No big deal but it gave the buyer cold feet as they were not Ferrari literate..worked out well for you since it resulted in another price drop..

Wolfie really is a great guy and we've kept in touch since April. It really was lucky for me
and yes, it had minor issues after all that time unused but mostly worked out now. I replaced both O2 sensors today and after the ECU reset seems to be running like a champ again. Tomorrow or next week is the FPR's for that nagging hot start issue.

btw, for the forum, the 1995 348's only have the tubes to the MAF's that unscrew, the four nuts holding down the airbox and the slip off air intake tubes and it's off. Also what worked best for me in changing them from the top was a 20" ratchet extension and the O2 socket. Took about 20 minutes all in all.

that is what makes this an even more enjoyable experience, the fact that a lot of the service can be done with the guidance of the membership here.

good way to look at it....patience is a virtue

First day out after the O2 swap and the car is running great, no warnings, no lights, imagine that :) I agree with a previous poster that some of that might be due to the battery disconnect and ECU reset as well as the sensors. Seems to be running better now than before the warning lights even started. it just gets better and better. As always, thanks to everyone who took the time and interest to respond with such helpful suggestions and encouragement!! FPR's next week and if the hot start issue resolves I won't have anything else to compalin about ;-)

Yes, retrieve the codes. Move your seats forward, remove the ECU covers, find the little round black (or sometimes red) button beside the ECUs and follow the procedure outlined here: http://www.my348.com/348.html#ECUcodes

At the end of the procedure write-up is a list of what the codes mean.

I don't know of anyone who has gone the splice route, but I have heard it is possible...but don't take what I "heard", wait for someone who actually did to confirm...by the way, did you pull the codes?

I did the splice route on both of my O2 sensors. No problems at all. :)

Does anyone know which order the codes read out? Is the first code that flashes the newest code or the oldest code?

Thanks. I wonder if priority was mis-translated or if it really is a priority thing.

Any idea if a bad or disconnected Cat Temp Sensor module will actually cause the CEL to light up versus just storing a code?

@m.stojanovic on the 348/355 forum is the best person to ask about this (I always get it wrong). See this post:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/149128134/

but read the whole thread to get some context.

I don't understand that, either. I guess all you can do is try it. Miro did specify that his 2.7 car was uncatted, and wasn't sure if that would produce a different result.

Yeah, I unplugged the Cat ECU and cleared the codes. Drive it several times yesterday and the CEL remained off.

On a different topic, when your car is fully warmed up, what is your oil pressure at idle? Mine got pretty low but was middle-ish on the gauge when cold.
