Speaking of knock sensors, I was interested to see that even Motronic 2.5 supported them in other applications. Which got me to wondering if you could add them to the 348 simply by swapping to ECUs that support them and replacing their fuel & ignition maps with 348 maps. There’s probably some catch that precludes it from working, but the idea of adding knock sensors non-invasively is intriguing.

Run a standalone knock sensor or one on each bank, many options just use a bosch sensor. Had no luck with any others.

Motronic 2.5-2.7 are total junk. I been in them intimately, I ran 2 KS while tuning them.

Have my box of standalone ECU stuff for the 348 that I will do for stock then Throttle body setup and possibly turbo motors depending on my interest / time

As many things it is much more complicated as that. The placement of the sensor is crucial + you have to experiment with the frequency that the "knock" of your engine produces. You don't want your knock sensor to react to "normal" detonation. Also knock sensors have a specific frequency range of detection.

I added a knock sensor also to the cosworth engine (from above) but was lucky that the next generation of my engine had a knock sensor from factory so i knew where to put it and which model to use. :)
After that is done you have to set the detection level of the signal before the ECU starts to retard the ignition or enrich the mixture.( that's how it works )

Math is your friend to get you in the ballpark before fine tuning the sensor inputs. On the 348 top center of each bank works amazing well for me.

Being the 348 ferrari branded ecus are a bit wonky. I know bmw units work and just need remapping and have many more options. I cant remember what model maybe M20 are a very versatile ecu that works well with cars in the 348 era.

    :)
