Thanks for posting that. How long did it take you in real time? Did you do the entire removal by yourself?
Haha! Time lapse video shows probably less than 50% of the work. I keep forgetting to turn on the gopro or change the battery thus I wasnt able to capture every single sec. Thanks guys!
That's not bad at all, considering you were working by yourself without a lift. Nice job! How far along are you on the service portion of the job?
Just got the engine out yesterday and waiting for some parts to start working on changing the belts etc next week. Thanks!
Hi Ernie, thank you so much for this topic, I will do my first engine out next winter. I have a few questions: -Is there a list with parts and part numbers, I should order, following your threat? -Were can I find all the torque numbers for all bolts? Is there a tech manual? -If I remove the secondary air injection rail, should I cap anything else off, or does it require any more work than putting those John Deere plugs in? -Do you have the part number of those John Deere plug?
Many of the parts suppliers have 348 major service kits. I order my parts from various vendors, it just depended on the pricing. The important thing for me was to have the Hill Engineering cam belt bearing set. If you change the outer timing chain cover bearing you will want to also have the Hill Engineering bearing for that (it wasn't available when I did my major other wise I would have bought it from Daniel at Ricambi). As for a complete list with part numbers, sorry I don't have a list for you. They got posted earlier in this thread. Here is the link to the torque values from the manual ->http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142956442-post421.html Not off the top of my head, sorry.
Here's a list I put together at my last major. I believe it's accurate but you may want to verify. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Okay I think I found the Johne Deere part number for the oil filter housing plug? RE52242 I looked it up on this site John Deere - Parts Catalog And it seems to be the correct plug per the description on the pageant the picture. It's part #1 in the picture, and the description of the plug is 16mm x 1.5, which is what I needed.
THAT is impressive.. you make it look so easy. Like there's nothing to detach -- hoses, wires, etc. LOL
Yes. You will need to cap off the air injection ports on the bottom front corners of the air box. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Any opinions of sparkplugs for this engine? Someone has put ngk heatrange 9 plugs to mine, but correct heatrange would be 8? As im living rather cold climate and use of the car is mainly street use.
The front bar didn't get in the way when you lifted it up that high? Cool video man, thanks for sharing.
Mine is almost ready to start fitting it back on the car, waitin on fuel lines and when back on car, weld the exhaust fully. Its starting to look like summer is aproaching to finland too Image Unavailable, Please Login
