Has anyone here removed the 348 engine/subframe on this type of lift. It is a typical four post with ramps the length of the car, and a traveling pneumatic scissor lift.

My guess is that I'll have to do it by driving just the front of the car on, undoing all attachments and then raising it above the subframe.

Please pass along some guidance if you've worked with a similar setup.

    Thanks
    James

I dont think it can be done on a 4 post lift. You need to be able to lift the car up off the engine. Or vice versa......If you jack the car up off the ground and place the car on stands, you can use a dolly/or jacks to wheel the engine out from underneath. Using a 2 post hoist, you can take the hoist up and leave the engine on the ground on stands. The easiest way I reckon. A 4 post hoist, well, it would be a challenge to try figure it out. :) Here are pics of the 2 post and 4 post hoists.

When I said it may be a challenge to do it, I meant to say a challenge to do it safely. :p Maybe a little heavy in the ass to let it overhang the 4 poster. Thats where all the weight is. Unless........you could do it and then strap the front of the car down to the ramps with tie-down straps. From the front control arms to under and around the ramps. There was the thread/pic of the 348 on blocks and car ramps the other day.

The rear of the car sits higher to move some weight towards the front to prevent it from tipping over in that pic. So maybe it can be done safely after all. :)

Like smg said, I suppose it could be done by driving on until the rear wheels are half up the ramps, chock the fronts, jack the rear a bit so the sills are level then place some big blocks of wood under the rear body jack points. Sounds a bit awkward though.
